ANNOUNCEMENT for the 2011 U.S. COLLEGIATE FIGURE SKATING CHAMPIONSHIPS July 21 24 2011 Hosted by the Sun Valley FSC 1 Dollar Loop Road Sun Valley, ID 83353 Entry Deadline: June 15, 2011 By midnight in the time zone of your home club Online registration is MANDATORY The event in Sun Valley, Idaho, is for junior and senior singles, only. RULES The U.S. Collegiate Figure Skating Championships are sanctioned by U.S. Figure Skating and will be conducted under the rules set forth in the 2011 edition of the U.S. Figure Skating rulebook and any relevant ISU communications. The short programs will follow the requirements for the 2011 12 season, which can be found in the Future Seasons Short Program Requirements document posted on the Rulebook page on the U.S. Figure Skating website (www.usfigureskating.org). Please note that the 2010 Governing Council passed a rule, effective June 1, 2010, which eliminates all qualifying rounds for the U.S. Collegiate Figure Skating Championships. Therefore all events of the 2011 U.S. Collegiate Championships, regardless of entry numbers, will be comprised only of one short program and one free skate. Junior ladies & men: See Rule 3650, with the following exceptions to the short programs: Ladies: a) Junior ladies may elect to do a single Axel or a double Axel Men: a) Junior men may elect to do a single Axel or a double Axel b) Junior men may elect to do a jump combination consisting of two double jumps, a double jump and a triple jump, or two triple jumps Senior ladies & men: See Rule 3640, with the following exceptions to the short programs: Ladies: a) Senior ladies may elect to do a double jump or a triple jump immediately preceded by connecting steps and/or other comparable free skating movements. b) Senior ladies may elect to do a jump combination consisting of two double jumps, a double jump and a triple jump or two triple jumps. Men: a) Senior men may elect to do a double jump, triple jump or quadruple jump immediately preceded by connecting steps and /or other comparable free skating movements. b) Senior men may elect to do a jump combination consisting of two double jumps, a double jump and a triple jump, two triple jumps, or a quadruple jump and a triple jump. REGISTRATION / ENTRY PROCESS STEP 1: Online Electronic Registration (Required) Online registration is the ONLY method available for entry into the 2011 U.S. Collegiate Figure Skating Championships. To enter online you must do the following: Log in to www.usfsaonline.org. A username and password are required for online registration. Your username is your U.S. Figure Skating membership number. If you do not already have a password, go to www.usfsaonline.org first and follow the online instructions.

Please call the U.S. Figure Skating main number at (719) 635 5200 or email the U.S. Figure Skating member services department at memberservices@usfigureskating.org if you have problems with the online registration process. STUDENT STATUS / ENTRY PROCESS STEP 2: In addition to entering the event via the online registration system with U.S. Figure Skating, all participants must prove their academic eligibility, per Rule 3046 as amended by the Governing Council on April 30, 2011. A. Singles Events Competitors shall be qualified to compete by virtue of their having a high school diploma or an equivalency certificate in addition to either: 1. Being enrolled full time in a college or university degree program for the upcoming semester/quarter. 2. Currently admitted to a full time college or university degree program for the coming academic year. 3. Having graduated in the preceding academic year. B. Dance and Pair events: Competitors shall be qualified to compete by virtue of the partners having a high school diploma or an equivalency certificate in addition to their being enrolled in such a program the previous academic year, or by being admitted to a half time college or university degree program for the coming academic year. If only one partner is so enrolled, a request for an exception to this rule must be forwarded to the national vice chair for collegiate championships with the entry form for a determination of eligibility no later than the closing date of entries. However, both partners must have a high school diploma or an equivalency certificate. LOC FORMS / INFORMATION ENTRY PROCESS STEP 3 Written proof of the required student status must be submitted to headquarters by completing FORM A (attached). Please note that email or fax is the only accepted method of submission and must be done so by June 15, 2011. DEADLINES The entry deadline for all U.S. Collegiate Championships events is 11:59 pm on June 15, 2011, as determined by the time zone where the athlete s home club is located. All online entries must be completed at this time. Late entries will not be accepted. FORM A must be received via email or fax by June 15, 2011 Athletes are not permitted to skate up all tests required for qualifying competitions in their respective events must be passed by the entry deadline of June 15, 2011. No exceptions.

ENTRY FEES Every skater entering the U.S. Collegiate Championships must submit an entry fee as follows. The entry fee will be paid online as part of the registration process: **entry fee does not include practice ice sessions $ 140.00 Singles events (junior and senior) $ 155.00 Per team pairs or dance (junior and senior) $ 10.00 Administration fee SCORING The International Judging System (IJS) will be used for all events. Competitors shall submit a Planned Program Content sheet as part of their online entry. ICE ARENA The competition will be held at the Sun Valley Skating Center, 1 Dollar Loop Road, Sun Valley, ID 83353. There are two ice surfaces; an indoor arena measuring 190 X 95 and an outdoor rink measuring 180 X 90. All events will be held on the indoor arena. PRACTICE ICE All athletes may purchase two official practice sessions and one official warm up session. Official practice sessions will be on Friday and will be approximately 50 minutes in length, with 10 12 skaters per session. Warm up sessions will be on the day of each event and approximately 20 minutes in length. Due to time constraints, official practice and warm up ice may or may not be on the official competition arena. Programs will be played for each skater one time per session (please check the music rotation upon arrival). No music will be played on the warm up session. Practice ice registration forms are available from the www.sunvalleyfsc.com website and must be submitted to the LOC by the entry deadline date June 15, 2011. Details on additional ice will be posted at the club website. MUSIC CDs (standard compact disc format only) will be accepted. CDs must be submitted in white CD sleeves. Both the CD and the sleeve must be clearly marked with the name, event entered and the music length. Each disc must have only ONE track on it. Two separate discs must be used for short program and free skate. Due to compatibility and reliability reasons, no music may be submitted on re recordable CDRW discs. ALL competition music must be turned in at the registration desk at the time of registration and will be available for pick up at the registration desk at the conclusion of the event. CDs will not be mailed back to competitors. Credentials may not be issued until all music is submitted. All competitors must have an additional copy of their CD available for practice sessions. Competitors must also have an extra copy available quickly during the actual competition event.

EVENTS & ELIGIBILITY Events to be skated, requirements and eligibility are defined in Rule 1430 and Rule 3045: Senior ladies free skating Senior men s free skating Senior dance* Senior pairs** Junior ladies free skating Junior men s free skating Junior dance* (*Held at the Lake Placid Ice Dance Championships) Junior pairs** (**Held at the Indy Pairs Challenge) AWARDS U.S. Collegiate Championships medals will be awarded to first, second, third and fourth place winners. The winners of the senior ladies and senior men championship events will be awarded a one year scholarship that emanates from the Pioneer Award. The requirements for receiving the scholarship include: 1. Providing written proof of being a United Sates citizen 2. For current students, providing written proof of completing the fall semester/quarter as a full time student. DRAWS All competitors are invited to attend the draw for initial start order in your first event. The draw party hosted by the SVFSC will be held on the outdoor rink Thursday evening. The club will welcome skaters to the outdoor rink in Sun Valley one like no other in the world! Refreshments and snacks will be served as well as some fun door prizes. Bring your skates so you can join in the fun while drawing for your start order. The intermediate draw for skating order for the subsequent portion of each event will be conducted publicly at a time and place, announced in advance, by the chief referee. Sky West Airlines offers daily service from Salt Lake City, Utah, to Hailey and Twin Falls (app. 80 miles south of SV) Southwest, United, Delta, America West and Alaska Airlines offer service from most major cities to Boise, Idaho, with car rental available (2 ½ hour drive) to Sun Valley. Sun Valley has become a year round destination resort offering, golf, tennis, hiking, mountain biking, camping and fly fishing throughout the summer season. PLEASE BE SURE TO BOOK YOUR RESERVATIONS EARLY AS THIS CAN BE A BUSY WEEKEND IN THE RESORT. Reservations for the Sun Valley Lodge, Sun Valley Inn and Sun Valley condominiums are available through the Sun Valley Resort central reservation number 800 786 8259. The town of Ketchum is located 1 mile from the actual resort and offers a variety of hotels and motels. Free bus service operated by Mt. Rides runs every half hour throughout the Ketchum/Sun Valley/Elkhorn area. The Ketchum / Sun Valley area offers over 1000 condominiums. These are available through the various property management services listed below. These units vary in size from studios to four bedrooms and are fully furnished offering a more economical family vacation or accommodations for large groups of skaters. The town of Hailey is located 13 miles south of the resort and offers hotels and motels. Please see next page for a complete listing of area properties and discounts. For additional hotel information please check www.sunvalleyfsc.com. INFORMATION ABOUT THE FACILITY The Sun Valley FSC has two rinks; one indoor and outdoor. For additional information regarding the rink, please visit the website at www.sunvalley.com VIDEO/PHOTO: Both services will be available. The committee will make every attempt to ensure that the cost is reasonable. SOUVENIRS: T shirts, sweatshirts and other competition souvenirs will be available for purchase at the competition. COMPETITION REGISTRATION A registration/information packet will be given to each participant when they check in at the Competition Registration Desk at the Sun Valley Ice Rink. All participants must check in at the Competition Registration Desk, which will be open at 4pm on Thursday, July 21.

LIABILITY The 2011 U.S. Collegiate Figure Skating Championships, U.S. Figure Skating and the Sun Valley FSC accept no responsibility for injury or damage sustained by any participant in these championships. COACHES Important Notice for All Coaches To coach at a U.S. Figure Skating qualifying level competition, a professional coach or choreographer must be listed as Coaches Education Requirement (CER) Category A compliant, have completed the Coach Registration process and be a current member in both U.S. Figure Skating and the PSA. A chart of U.S. Figure Skating requirements for coaches can be found here: http://www.usfigureskating.org/content/coaches%20requirement%20chart.pdf. Each local organizing committee (LOC) will be provided with a list of coaches who are cleared for a credential at the competition. Coaches will need to check in at the event registration desk and show a government issued photo I.D. to receive a credential. Coaches who are NOT on the list will need to show proof of membership in both U.S. Figure Skating and the PSA, a Coaches Registration card, proof of Category A compliance in CER, and a photo I.D. at check in. If a coach cannot provide a photo I.D. and is not on the list or cannot produce the necessary documents, he or she will not be allowed a credential no exceptions. We strongly urge all coaches to have their cards with them.
