Season 4: 2018-19 2. Overview of our International Opportunities this season 3. What we are looking for in an International Athlete 4. Hamburg, Germany 5. Orlando, Florida 7. Bottrop, Germany 8. Fundraising expectations 1

International Teams An Overview After the incredible success of our International program this year, we are so excited to announce our opportunities for International travel this year. All our International teams are optional we completely understand the extra cost and commitment is not something that all of our athletes and families are able to make. All teams will be training on selected dates, listed in this document, and all dates are mandatory our three strikes policy does not cover teams training internationally due to the limited training schedule. All payments given below are the cost for one athlete and are an estimate. We will do our best to break down the costs and to save money wherever possible. There are payment plans for each team and these must be strictly adhered to in order for the price to remain as it is. All athletes will be expected to meet all payment deadlines on time and there is no room for extensions/leeway on this if we as a club are to make our own deadlines to airlines/hotels/competition companies. Please see below our overview of the three International trips we will be participating in this upcoming season. Destination and Competition Hamburg, Germany German All-Levels Championships Orlando, Florida COA Ultimate Nationals Bottrop, Germany Elite Cheerleading Championships Expected Cost Expected Dates Projected teams/levels 300 7th-10 th December Reign (Senior Coed 2018 4) Potential for a second squad (weekly training) 1350 15th April 24 th Level 2 (Age TBC) April (or 1 st May) 2019 385 7-11 th June 2019 Peewee 0/1 Peewee 2 Junior 3 Senior Coed 4 (Reign) Check out the rest of this handbook to discover smaller details about each trip! 2

What we are looking for in an International Athlete We will place all athletes for our International Program during our regular Placement Week. Parents/athletes will be asked on their Placement Forms if they wish to be considered for an International Travel team. As with all our athletes, we are looking to place athletes on these teams who have/are: The strongest skills possible in both stunting AND tumbling for the level of the team. For example, for a Level 2 team, we are looking for either stable, flexible flyers with great performance skills, or strong bases with excellent technique. All athletes for this level will most likely be expected to have a back handspring in both standing and running tumbling. A good history of coachability. Trying new things, working hard outside of practice, being positive in training, listening to their coaches and applying corrections first time, giving 100% to whatever they re trying are all essential components of being a part of an International Team. An impeccable history of attendance, punctuality, and a consistent financial record with no arrears on their account. Excellent team-mates both on and off the mat. International athletes will be expected to spend a lot of time together whilst abroad and we have a zero tolerance on bullying, forming cliques, and excluding athletes from daily activities whilst in a different country. Great independence skills this is particularly important if travelling to Florida. You will have lots of experience managing money and time! A complete respect of the knowledge that they are representing White Rose Cheer and the UK - and will do so with great sportsman/sportswoman-like conduct. All the trips detailed below are completely based on interest. We naturally want to field the strongest routines possible for our chosen levels and age groups. We want the greatest chance at success in all ways. It s not the 2.5 minutes on the mat that makes a trip successful we want the athletes to create wonderful memories with their team mates and have a real learning experience. Please note that crossovers are permitted for Bottrop although we plan to use them sparingly. Athletes are permitted to attend more than one international trip please bear in mind the extra commitment and cost. You will have the option to indicate this on your Placement Form. 3

Hamburg, Germany We are taking existing Senior Coed 4 team, Reign, to compete at the All-Levels German Competition, held in Hamburg, Germany, on Sunday 9 th December 2018. The team is yet to begin choreography so we are able to take more strong all-rounders at Level 4 into this existing team. There is also the potential scope to take one of our weekly teams to this event. If all members of a certain competition team wish to commit (this will be indicated on tryout forms), we will add this competition into the schedule for them. We will not be constructing a lower level team to train on weekends. The plans and cost breakdown for the trip is as follows (at the time of writing): ITEM COST AND DETAILS NOTES Flights 74 Return Recommended flight: Easyjet Manchester to Hamburg, Friday evening to Monday morning Accommodation Leonardo Hotel Hamburg City Nord 250 per room for 3 nights (based on two sharing) Athletes/parents to book their own flights. 8 rooms already reservedpayment to WRC in early September Transfers Minimal hotel is near airport, city centre and competition venue. Orlando, Florida Following the success of our first USA trip to Chicago, we have decided to base our next USA competition team in the popular resort of Orlando. We are as of yet unsure as to whether we will be fielding one or two teams. The team will be training in prestigious gyms in the area, alongside visiting the main theme parks. The main focus for the trip will be training and competition, and all tourist activities will be secondary. For the first week of the trip, the team will be flying together and staying in a villa with the coaches supervising and transporting them around the area. We have decided to run this year s USA trip this way to encourage team bonding the team will be doing everything together! There will be days/times during this week where parents who have chosen to travel can join their athletes. For the second (optional) week of the trip, we encourage athletes and their families to enjoy some holiday time after the competition and to watch the World Championships taking place in Orlando the following weekend. We are happy to take any athletes that decide to stay for the second week to watch ICU Finals (Friday 26 th April) and USASF Worlds Finals (Monday 29 th April) if parents don t wish to accompany them to the competition itself, and we will be responsible for them on both days. Coaches will not be responsible for athletes otherwise during the second optional week in order to partake in coach training and to work with some local gyms in the area, or possibly out of town. There is a chance some of the coaching team will travel home straight after the competition in which case, they are able to supervise unaccompanied athletes home. We should be able to confirm this by Placement Week. In the event this is not the case, the responsibility for unaccompanied athletes return travel/accommodation arrangements remains with each individual parent. We are happy for other parents to take responsibility for unaccompanied athletes during the optional second week of the trip. Due to the nature of this trip, where athletes may be expected to spend the best part of a week without seeing their parents/families, please be sure that you/your athlete is prepared to travel that distance without their parent. In the event we decide to bring very young athletes with us on the trip, we will liaise with those families individually to decide what is best for them regarding parental supervision. ITEM COST NOTES Flights 800 Current at time of writing still waiting on favoured airline to release flights for our dates. Athletes and coaches will purchase flights on a group booking and will travel together, ideally directly. Parents/families if they wish to travel are responsible for own flights. Please understand that if you cannot commit to all the dates you will not be able to be included on the trip. 6

Bottrop After the success of this year s trip, we have decided next year to increase the amount of athletes we can take and are hoping to field four teams Rivals Peewee 0/1, Rebellion Peewee 2, Reckless Junior 3, and Reign Senior Coed 4. We are intending to stay somewhere on the main train line in order to utilise the cheap and reliable transport the trains provide. The competition is held in a theme park with lots of attractions for all ages and preferences. All athletes under the age of 18 will be expected to travel and stay with a parent (although we are happy for other families to take responsibility for another athlete). Proposed dates for trip 7

A reminder that all dates are mandatory. No athlete will be granted any authorised absence for missing any of the above training sessions. Please note Saturday 1 st June falls on the last Sunday of the May half-term week. Fundraising expectations Fundraising is an integral part of being a part of an International squad and there is a level of expectation that all athletes will participate in these activities. Last season, our main fundraising activities were bag packing and race night in which we raised a collective 3,000 to go towards the international trip. Only athletes who take part in fundraising will benefit from it. Through our activities we managed to raise enough money to fund all International athlete s training kit, gym hire for Revolution whilst in Chicago, custom music, and cover all stash/presents for each athlete. We are also looking for sponsors to help us with huge costs which would make these trips affordable for a lot more athletes. Please contact us if you think there is a company that could help! All fundraising dates will be given with as much notice as possible. 8
