NATIONALS: The Braves and Nationals open a three-game series today and play the 14th of 19 meetings between the two clubs this season... The Braves trail the season series 2-11 with a 1-6 mark at Nationals Park. The Braves have won a season-high matching six games in a row and seven of their last eight...they have gone 10-4 since snapping a seven-game losing streak on August 21 (vs. WSH). For the Braves, this is the fourth game of a six-game road trip to Philadelphia (3-0) and Washington. MANY STARTERS: This afternoon s scheduled starting pitcher Ryan Weber would become the 15th different starting pitcher the Braves have used this season which is tied with the Los Angeles Dodgers for the most different starters used in the majors. The 15 different starters are the most for the Braves in a single season since the 1975 team also used an Atlanta-franchise record 15. BACK-TO-BACK WINS: Yesterday s starting pitcher Julio Teheran earned his fifth win of the season (25 starts, 3.01 ERA) and his second consecutive victory, marking the first time he has won in consecutive starts since winning three straight, September 24, 2014 to April 11, 2015. ANOTHER DEBUT: On Saturday night at Philadelphia, LHP Jed Bradley made his Major League debut and earned the win when he pitched a perfect ninth inning before the Braves scored two runs in the 10th. Bradley became Atlanta s 12th player to make his MLB debut this season, which is the most of any team in the majors...cincinnati, Houston and Oakland have had 11 players make their debut. OFFENSE CLICKING: Since snapping a seven-game losing streak on August 21, the Braves have gone 10-4 and have averaged 5.8 runs per game...last night s 2-0 victory marked their season-high matching sixth straight win, five of which have seen Atlanta s offense plate sixor-more runs. SINCE KEMP S ARRIVAL: Atlanta acquired OF Matt Kemp from San Diego in a July 31 trade and he played his first game on August 2...The Braves have gone 17-15 since August 2 and they rank second in the NL and third in the majors in runs scored (165) in that span. In his 32 games with the Braves, Kemp has hit.270 with five home runs and 24 RBI...He owns 28 homers (7th in NL) and 92 RBI (T3rd in NL) for the season. BRIAN SNITKER: In his 40th season in the Braves organization, Brian Snitker was named Atlanta s interim manager on May 17...He earned his first win on May 18 (at Pittsburgh) and his first home win on May 27 vs. Miami...The Braves are 45-55 under Snitker. FIRST HALF/SECOND HALF: The Braves team batting average was just.237 at the All-Star break (last in the majors)...atlanta has hit.278 in 48 games since the break, which is good for fifth in MLB and third in the NL...Atlanta s.344 on-base pct. (tied) and 177 walks since the break are both second best in the majors since the ASB. DOUBLE TROUBLE: Freddie Freeman poked his 200th career double in yesterday s 2-0 win at Philadelphia...The two-bagger was his eighth in his last 16 games and his 37th on the season. Freeman s 37 doubles rank tied for third in the NL, one shy of the lead (38). In 2014, Freeman hit a career-best 43 doubles. QUITE A YEAR: In his 85 games since June 1, Freddie Freeman is hitting.319 (100-for-313) with 56 extra-base hits and a 1.080 OPS...He leads the NL and ranks second in the majors in extra-base hits since that date, while his OPS is second in the majors. Freeman has hit safely in 11 straight games and in 22 of his last 23 since 8/10, going 31-for-79 (.392). Freeman has established a career high with 72 extrabase hits and is on pace for 86 extra-base hits this season...the only Atlanta-era Brave (since 1966) to post 80 XBH in a season is Chipper Jones, who had 87 in his NL MVP season of 1999. Freeman s 72 extra-base hits lead the NL and are just four behind the major-league leader David Ortiz (76)...Freeman s 345 XBH since the 2011 season rank as third most in the NL... He is the first Brave to collect at least 70 XBH in a season since Chipper Jones had 75 in 2007. Since the All-Star break, Freeman has scored 42 runs, which is tied for the Major League lead, and is hitting.400 (14-for-35) with runners in scoring position (tied for sixth in the NL). Freeman has hit a career-high 29 home runs this season...his previous single-season high was 23 in 2012 and 2013... With one more homer, Freeman would become the first 30-homer Brave since Dan Uggla had 36 in 2011. ENDER S GAME: OF Ender Inciarte went 2-for-4 with a walk last night and has reached base safely via hit or walk in 43 of his last 44 games since July 19. Enters today s game with a 15-game hitting streak (28-for-65,.431) since August 19...His is the longest active streak in the majors...he posted a Braves season-best 19-game hitting streak, 7/19-8/8. Inciarte is hitting.368 (71-for-193) with 37 runs and a.424 OBP in 48 games since the All-Star break...his batting average since the break ranks third in the majors among qualifiers, while his OBP is seventh.
