NATIONALS: The Braves and Nationals play the second game of a three-game set today, the final series between the two teams this season... The Braves have lost 29 games to the Nationals over the last two seasons, the most losses for an Atlanta-era team against a single opponent in a two-season span. The Braves have dropped nine of the last 10 against Washington and are 1-6 against the Nationals at Turner Field this season. Washington has just two games remaining at Turner Field before the Braves move to SunTrust Park next season...the Braves own a 99-72 record against the Nats in this park. Despite the losing record, six of the Braves last seven losses against Washington have been by two runs or less...for the season, 10 of the 15 losses have been by two runs or less, including five by one run. ROSTER MOVES: The Braves made a series of roster moves today, as RHP Tyrell Jenkins was recalled from Triple-A Gwinnett and INF Rio Ruiz and Emilio Bonifacio were selected from GWI...RHP Rob Whalen and C A.J. Since Kemp joined the lineup, the Braves have scored 215 runs (5.2 per game) and have hit.277 as a team...their runs total ranks tied for fourth in the majors in that stretch, while their team batting average ranks fifth in MLB. Matt Kemp (31) and Freddie Freeman (30) are tied for fourth and sixth place, respectively, among NL players in home runs...the last time the Braves had two players finish among the top six in home runs was 1993, when David Justice (40), Fred McGriff (37) and Ron Gant (36) were second, fourth and fifth. KEEPING IT IN THE PARK: Braves relievers have allowed a NL-low 41 home runs this season, including just one this month...since the beginning of August, the Braves bullpen has allowed a MLB-low seven home runs.
