NATIONALS: The Braves and Nationals meet for the 10th time this season in the opener of a four-game series...the Braves lost two-ofthree to the Nationals last weekend in Washington, but stopped a seven-game losing streak against the Nats with an 8-5 win in the series opener. The Braves are just 1-8 against the Nats this season. The Braves win last Friday was the club s first at Nationals Park since September 10, 2014. UPS & DOWNS: Atlanta has lost four games in a row and six of its last seven, while being outscored 50-26 in this stretch...this streak comes on the heels of the club winning six-of-seven and outscoring its opponents 38-19 (from August 3-9). ROSTER MOVE: The Braves today activated RHP Arodys Vizcaino from his major-league rehabilitation assignment and reinstated him from the 15-day disabled list...in order to make room on the active roster the club optioned RHP Jason Hursh to Gwinnett (AAA). Vizcaino appeared in two rehabilitation games with Rome and the GCL Braves, allowing one run on two hits, with three strikeouts, in 2.0 IP. HOMER HAPPY: The Braves have hit 54 home runs in their last 56 games (0.96 per game) since June 15...The Braves hit just 27 homers in their first 64 games (0.42 per game) while going 18-46 in that stretch. The Braves have gone 26-30 (.464) since June 15, the third-best record in the NL East in that period, behind WSH (30-24,.556) and MIA (28-27,.509). DANSBY S DEBUT: Yesterday the Braves selected the contract of SS Dansby Swanson from Double-A Mississippi, just over a year after Arizona selected him with the top overall selection in the 2015 First-Year Player Draft...Swanson made his MLB debut last night and went 2-for-4 with a fourth-inning single to right field and a ninth-inning single to center field. Swanson, 22, became the 61st Atlanta Braves player to collect a hit in his first MLB game and just the 14th with a multi-hit debut Tommy La Stella did so last, going 2-for-4 on May 28, 2014 at BOS Swanson is just the sixth Braves player since the franchise moved to Atlanta in 1966 to start at shortstop in his MLB debut (also, Andrelton Simmons, Tyler Pastornicky, Brent Lillibridge, Rafael Furcal and Leo Foster). Swanson is the first 1:1 draft selection to debut in the season following his draft year since RHP Stephen Strasburg, who pitched in the majors in 2010 after the Nationals took him first in 2009. CAREER HIGH FOR FREDDIE: 1B Freddie Freeman belted his career-high 24th homer of the season last night with a two-run shot in the third inning...his previous single-season high was 23 homers in 2012 & 13. Since June 1, Freeman is hitting.316 (80-for-253) with 43 extra-base hits and a 1.054 OPS in 69 games...his OPS since that date ranks second in the NL, while his batting average ranks 12th. OUTFIELD ASSISTS: OF Ender Inciarte collected his 13th outfield assist of the season last night, throwing out Trevor Plouffe at second base in the ninth inning.
