FEBRUARY STUDENTS OF THE MONTH: We are proud to announce The Students of the Month have been selected for February 2017. They are: Freshman Robert Hunter Sophomore Grace Grmek Junior Christopher Church Senior Jason Brooks The above students have met the following Criteria: 1. Must meet high academic standards in class. 2. Exhibit positive character and influence on class/school, dignity, respect, trustworthiness, responsibility, caring, and citizenship. 3. No unexcused lates of any kind for the month. No discipline referrals in the last month. Congratulations to all of you! COLLEGE AND CAREER COUNSELING Rachel Fernandez and MaryAnne Tenerelli were the recipients of the Unsung Heroes student recognition award. Two students from each high school in Middlesex County are recognized for distinguishing themselves in unique ways by modeling good citizenship and possessing a spirit that inspires others. MTHS congratulates these two wonderful young ladies for their contributions to society. ART Congratulations and special thanks to 9th grader Richa Wadhawan and 10th grader Amanda Mackenzie for their participation in the art administrators of New Jersey 29th Annual High School Art Exhibit held in the James Howe Gallery at Kean University. They certainly have made us proud with their artistic achievements! Each of their works may be seen in the glass showcases by the PAC! In celebration of YOUTH ART MONTH over two dozen MTHS visual arts students grades 9-12 have their original art work on display at the Monroe Township Library until the end of March. The outstanding work is indicative of an exemplary Art Program in several mediums and at all levels of engagement. Additional works may be viewed online at www.artsonia.com by just filling in Monroe Township High School. In this way, you may even leave a comment for our artists. Feedback is always appreciated!

MODEL UN Earlier this year our Model United Nations program attended the Northeast Model UN Conference in Hershey PA, with 50 of MTHS's finest students. The students did an excellent job and here is a quick summary of their achievements at the conference. Monroe Township was also awarded Outstanding Delegation for our performance at conference this year! Anurva Saste: Outstanding Country Research Paper in General Assembly C Pranav Mallampalli: Premier First Year Delegate in Legal A and was elected Chair of Legal A for 2018 Ariana Yousafzai: Outstanding Country Research Paper- World Health Organization Nishant Nagalia: Premier Country (Representing Turkey) Brianna Bruccoleri: Premier Country (Representing Vietnam) Shrina Parikh: Chosen for (CONA) Conference on National Affairs held in North Carolina STUDENT COUNCIL The 2 nd Annual Falconette Couture Dress Showcase hosted by MTHS Student Council was held on February 23 rd. Over 40 girls attended the event. Girls were able to select from a variety of beautiful dresses, shoes, and accessories that were all donated by the community. Girls also had an opportunity to win free Junior and Senior prom tickets, gift certificates to a local nail and hair salon, a gift certificate to a local florist, and a movie theater. The event was a great success!

BOWLING Congratulations to Samantha Grimaldi for being named both Bowling Red Division Coach of the Year & GMC Conference Coach of the Year! Way to go coach! Congratulations to the Girls Bowling Team for winning their first ever GMC County Championship and finishing with an undefeated 14-0 season. They became the Red Division Champions! BOWLING cont. Congratulations to the Boys Bowling Team for winning the first ever Central Jersey Group III Sectional State Championship. The boys then went onto capture their first ever State Group III Championship tallying the highest score in the overall state. Louis Folgore also bowled a perfect 300 game against Sayreville. SPECIAL OLYMPICS The Monroe Falcons had an outstanding day competing in the SONJ Central NJ sectional tournament! The following bowlers have qualified for the Spring Games Singles Competition to be held at Bowlero (formerly The Brunswick Zone, North Brunswick, NJ on Sunday, April 2, 2017: AM Session Junior Bowlers (ages 8-21); Ramp Bowlers (ALL Ages) RJ Edwards Jaime Santiago Sarah Butler Caitlin Belko Dymond Mathis Anna Spirito Antonio Penaherrera Gold Gold Silver WRESTLING Congratulations to Nick Lombard for winning his 100th wrestling match becoming only the 6th wrestler in ours school s history to achieve this accomplishment! Nick also won the 145 pound GMC and District Championships. Congratulations to the Wrestling Team for advancing to the State Sectional Finals and also finishing 2nd at districts. GIRLS WINTER TRACK Promise Fadahunsi took first place in the 55 dash at the Central Jersey Group 4 Sectional Championships. She also placed 5th at the Group 4 meet to move on to the State Meet of Champions. Congratulations! ICE HOCKEY Congratulations to Gerry Minter for being selected as the GMC Ice Hockey Coach of the Year. Way to go Coach! We are very proud of all of our students and their accomplishments!
