Employer Reports to Department Location Position Overview Core Responsibilities West Coast Fever Netball Club Executive Officer - West Coast Fever and West Coast Fever Head Coach West Coast Fever Based in Perth State Netball Centre, Wembley Sports Park This position represents an exciting, hands-on high performance coaching role with elite athletes within the premier domestic netball league in the world. The West Coast Fever Assistant Coach will play a critical role in assisting the West Coast Fever Head Coach in on court leadership, guidance and coaching the West Coast Fever team for participation in Suncorp Super Netball. Additional to the West Coast Fever Assistant Coaching role, this position will lead the development of our nationally identified athletes to reach their potential in an exciting new era of high performance netball in Western Australia, within the framework of the West Coast Fever Academy. The West Coast Fever Assistant Coach /Academy High Performance Coach will play a lead role in driving the WCF Academy in partnership with Netball WA, Western Australian Institute of Sport (WAIS) and Netball Australia. The role will take an on-court leadership, guidance and coaching of the West Coast Fever Academy program to develop the next wave of Western Australian Diamonds. Integral to the success will be the close working relationship fostered with West Coast Fever, Netball Australia, the WAIS and various Netball WA key stakeholders including but not limited to other high performance coaches, umpires, players, Member Regions and Associations and Western Australian Netball League (WANL) Clubs. Housed at the State Netball Centre at the Wembley Sports Park, the West Coast Fever and Academy Programs have access to world class on-court training facilities including state of the art high performance analysis, injury management and prevention facilities, consultancy rooms, dedicated athlete change room and a recovery centre. The Centre also contains offices to cater for both the broader Netball WA administration and the West Coast Fever Netball Club staff. The West Coast Fever Assistant Coach /Academy Coach role is fundamental in developing a sustainable high performance program across Netball WA s underpinning programs in line with the organisations strategic objectives. Provide technical direction under the leadership of the WCF Head Coach to lead the coaching of the WCF program and WCF academy program; Assist the WCF Head Coach to deliver an optimal daily training environment; Assist the WCF Head Coach with managing the WCF athlete individual performance plans to accelerate their individual development; Successfully provide technical direction under the leadership of the WCF
Head Coach for the delivery of the WCF Academy netball program which purpose is to fast track the individual development of targeted national athletes and/or athletes with potential to be selected as Diamonds; Deliver an optimal daily training environment (including competition schedule) to prepare athletes for the demands of netball competition with a focus on developing the required attributes that will assist future State Teams succeed and long term Australian Team success internationally; Manage all of Academy targeted athlete s individual performance plans to accelerate their individual development in conjunction with the WCF Head Coach to prepare for competition within Australia and long term with National teams. Play a key role with the delivery of the High Performance program and report against key achievements at milestones during the year. Key Duties Assist the West Coast Fever Head Coach to implement the technical direction of the West Coast Fever SSN Program and West Coast Fever Academy Program; Assist the West Coast Fever Head Coach to provide a high quality training for West Coast Fever athletes, training partners and West Coast Fever Academy athletes; Assist the West Coast Fever Head Coach with the implementation and monitoring of individual performance plans for West Coast Fever and West Coast Fever Academy athletes; Foster and maintain the holistic development of West Coast Fever athletes, training partners and West Coast Fever Academy athletes; Lead and support the coaching of the athletes based in the West Coast Fever SNN team and West Coast Fever Academy including both team and individual sessions; Travel with the West Coast Fever team to all SSN fixtures and pre-season matches; In collaboration with WAIS service providers, WCF Head Coach and support staff set and implement the training program of the academy program; Provide high quality training and competition opportunities for West Coast Fever Academy athletes in line with the Netball WA High Performance Plan; Integrate sports science and sports medicine advances into the WCF Academy program and manage the delivery of support services in
Key Interactions Key competencies partnership with WCF, Netball Australia and WAIS providers; Assist in the recruitment and identification process for potential WCF Academy athletes in consultation with the WCF Head Coach; Liaise with parents and regional (home-based) coaches on the holistic progress of Academy athletes; Work at the direction of the WCF Head Coach to support WCF team outcomes; Report on achievements against key High Performance Plan performance measures; Manage issues and conflict appropriately; Disseminate teaching resources and knowledge to the State Programs conducting coaching clinics, education forums and one on one mentoring as required. Such methods to enhance the WCF academy player fundamentals within the netball community; Produce National 21 and Under age national team players, Suncorp Super Netball athletes and Diamonds; Any other duties within the Employees capabilities and which is reasonable to expect the Employee to undertake as directed by the Executive Officer- West Coast Fever or West Coast Fever Head Coach from time to time. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Extensive netball coaching experience; Specific technical knowledge of individual and team principles including techniques, coaching trends and international developments; Effective interpersonal and communication skills to liaise with a wide range of people including athletes, parents, service providers (WAIS),
management, media, etc.; Demonstrated networking skills to develop, maintain and improve partnerships, networks and client relationships; Proven competency with video review technologies; Understanding of the concepts and proven ability to integrate sports science, sports medicine and technological advancements into elite training programs; Ability to lead, influence, manage and motivate others to achieve outcomes; Sound personnel, financial, administration and IT skills; Capacity to identify and select potential elite athletes; Self motivated and able to work independently and as an active participant in a team; Consistently meet competing demands by prioritising in a result oriented environment; Ability to travel domestically and internationally for extended periods where required; A desire to see Western Australian players succeed domestically and on the world stage; Qualifications and broader skills: Excellent computer skills and information technology literacy with a range of software applications including use of SportsCode; Preparedness to be flexible in respect to work hours and interstate travel; A current C class WA driver s license; Working with Children Check Clearance; Coaching Qualifications: The following minimum coaching qualifications is desirable: Hold a Netball Australia Advance Coach Accreditation (or international equivalent); or is able to demonstrate they have held a position at elite domestic and or international level for a minimum of three years. Hours of work Salary The role is a full time two (2) year maximum termed contract based on agreed KPI s and contract specific requirements working 37½ hours per week. The nature of the position requires out of hours and weekend work. An attractive salary package of $70 000 - $80 000 plus superannuation will be negotiated with the successful applicant dependant on experience.
