Our Mission The Jose Wejebe Spanish Fly Memorial Foundation (JWF) offers many different ways for your business to maximize its exposure, and be associated as a company who believes in continuing to honor Jose s legacy. Sponsorship is an ideal opportunity to boost your company s profile among an influential crowd in the fishing community. Our Inspiration Jose Wejebe was more than a TV personality. His warm and genuine personality, deep compassion, and uplifting enthusiasm made him an inspiration to many. Throughout his life and career, Jose unselfishly donated his time, money and equipment to support countless charities including the Make-A-Wish Foundation, Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, The Marc House, Wounded Warriors, Big Brothers, Big Sisters, Pediatric Cancer Foundation, Reel Life Adventures, and many others. The charitable work seen on his television series, Spanish Fly, documented only a small portion of his generosity. Behind the scenes, he quietly assisted with many charities throughout the world. He did so out of compassion and kindness, and was humbled by those who expressed their appreciation. In order to continue Jose s passion to help others, The Jose Wejebe Spanish Fly Memorial Foundation was founded in April 2012. Current Projects In the wake of Hurricane Irma the Foundation has been coordinating volunteer groups to help individuals with the recovery process, along with donating to the Guides Trust, and to the first annual Keysgiving. JWF works with different non-profits, and organizations to make fishing dreams come true. These different organizations include Make A Wish, Outdoor Dream Foundation, and the Recreational Department of the VA Hospital in Miami, and Wesley House. JWF does not have a application process itself. Instead we rely on other creditable organizations to recommend individuals. Along with coordinating the trip JWF provides funding for travel, accommodations, food, fishing guides, and a take home package provided by Jose s sponsors. Between all of our connections in the fishing community, we have and will continue to make fishing dreams come true. The #fishforjose Story #fishforjose originated as a social media movement calling on all those who loved and watched over the years to celebrate the life of Jose on his birthday, January 18th, and do something Jose would do. When the fishing industry sees #fishforjose on an Instagram feed, Facebook post, tweet, blog post, etc., they know you Skipped work and went out on the water. Introduced someone to the sport of fishing. Attempted to fish for a new species. Are promoting ethical fishing. Keep only what you eat and letting go to let em grow. Taking football playoffs into account we decided to push the event back, and make it a weekend! This year will be full of music, food, and of course fishing. You never know who might show up.
