jah Ch EXTENSIONS www.cdctaonline.com www.facebook.com/cdcta Extensions September 2017 Monthly Newsletter Published by The Connecticut Dressage & Combined Training Association, Inc. A step up! Amy Macha, CDCTA member I have been dreaming for years of the day I would get to ride a first level test. I have come very close a few times but had some setbacks. Today was the day. We had our normal show morning routine going and all the horses were ready to go. We get to the show and I can already see all the smiling faces warming up the beautiful horses. Not long after that I was getting ready to head into the ring, it was the first attempt at a first level test for Pi and me. All the staff were smiling and wishing me luck as I headed into the ring. Luckily I had just enough time to get one more canter transition in around the ring just before the bell rang and then we were in. As I left the ring I was greeted with job well done" from everyone and I felt so accomplished after that amazing ride. Everyone at CDCTA was very nice and supportive to all the riders and for me it was very helpful to hear the last good luck from the ring Steward right before entering the ring. The warm support at the CDCTA show made it the perfect place to take our first step up a level IN THIS ISSUE Member profile ~ A step up! To all Business Owners: The Connecticut Dressage and Combined Training Association is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing opportunities to train and educate riders in the state. We strive to give our members an affordable experience by creating scholarships that aid members in paying for clinics, seminars, and training sessions. The Club is run entirely by volunteers with a goal of making equine education accessible to Connecticut equestrians. While we are a frugal organization, none of this would be possible without the support of generous sponsors. Confucius once stated, "He who wished to secure the good of others, has already secured his own." By sponsoring one of our events, you would be providing opportunity for both the club and your business. Horse shows attract many different types of spectators who have interests in a broad range of products and services. Whether you are a farming business or one who thrives in the suburbs, you are bound to find someone involved with club activities who is interested in your line of work. Any contribution, be it large or small, can be beneficial for both CDCTA and you. All sponsors receive not only the Club's gratitude, but also widespread acknowledgement at our events and on our website, www.cdctaonline.com, throughout the year. While we recognize that you receive many requests for donations, we hope that you will view sponsorship as an affordable means of advertising, as well as providing assistance to CDCTA in furthering its equestrian goals. Volunteers are needed in every aspect of these events from being a scribe for a judge to directing trailers to the parking area. Never shown your horse before and are you a bit nervous about it? Come volunteer and learn about how friendly our shows are and then come back next time to show yourself! Are you new to the sport of Dressage or Combined Training? Come volunteer and watch the other riders. You will see that you will fit right in with our friendly and helpful members and clinicians at every level. The Lesson Lotto: Win $100 towards a lesson with the instructor of your choice. Interested in Year End Awards?
