From the President January 2012 Welcome to the first newsletter from SCEC for 2012. I m back again at our AGM the other day, I was fortunate enough (I think!!) to be reelected as President for another year, and lets hope we have a good year!! The rest of the committee have also retained their places, and as new additions we sincerely welcome Melanie Heaton and Deirdre Brookes to the committee. I m sure you will all join me in welcoming in all the new committee, and thanking them for taking on the role the existence of SCEC would not be possible without the (sometimes substantive) commitment of these people. Your committee members contact details are listed in this newsletter and on our website, please feel free to contact any one of us if you have ideas or issues you wish to share. To begin the year we are holding a Training Day on 26 February, a week before the first (of our 6 planned) comp for the year on 4 March. Details for both these events can be found in this newsletter. Don t forget SCEC have gone online entry to our competitions is via www.globalentriesonline.com.au and thank you to all who transferred across to this new system so readily!!! Running competition days requires input from many people and we ask that all our members volunteer to help with one task or another as often as they possibly can, especially on competition days helping set up the grounds, penciling, collecting tests are just some of the myriad of tasks that we need help with. This year, we ll be especially encouraging the juniors to have a go at penciling sitting with a judge and seeing how tests flow from their perspective is a great experience and can help a rider finesse the riding of their own tests to ensure the best possible reception from the judge. So please don t be backward in coming forward and offering to help with whatever you can. This year SCEC committee meetings will be held on the Tuesday a week and a half before each comp that is, the committee will meet 6 times during the year (and probably an extra at the end of the year to sort out HOTY/point score etc), rather than January 2012 each month. All members are welcome and we encourage anyone who may have ideas, suggestions or just a general interest in what s going on to come along. The next meeting is on Tuesday 21st February at 7.30pm at the Aviator Lounge, Airport. Finally, in my role as President, happy riding, and I look forward to talking, working and riding with many of you over the next year. Your tireless dedication to our club is very much appreciated. South Coast Equestrian Club 2011 AGM President s Report 2011 has been quite a good year for SCEC, despite all the rain. My very deep thanks to each and all the committee for their commitment to and passion for SCEC. We are not a big team, and I know that at times the workload is intense, but the outcomes are worth it, and I know we all (especially me) appreciate the support of and effort put in by each other. With a mostly unchanged committee from 2011, SCEC was able to hit the decks running in 2010 as has been our wont we started the year with a Training Day. This was very well attended and is an ideal way to start the year, giving people a non-pressure way to start the year, bring out young horses for a bit of experience, and/or access trainers/ coaches. competition days, without who s unceasing and usually cheerful help and support we wouldn t be able to hold the competitions we do and I include our scorer Mark (such a patient and cheerful person) in this category, without whose unfailing good will, the competitors wouldn t get their scores. Thirdly, the committee, without whom SCEC just would not be thank you, Leanne, Katherine, Ewa, Tibby and Ebony. And lastly, the members, thank you for your support and the support of your patient family, partners, friends. SCEC exists for the benefit of its members, and we appreciate the support you show us. To the entire SCEC Family all the very best for 2012 I hope you are much rested and reinvigorated after the festive season and ready for a very successful year. Frances Simmonds President 2011 A BIG THANK YOU to our sponsors for 2011 This year, thanks to the very wet year we had, we only managed to hold 4 of our 6 planned competitions. Unfortunately one we were forced to cancel was the championships in October. However again this year we were very lucky to be able to convert the November comp to be the Championships, and despite a few showers along the way, we managed to get them done!!! And weren t the sponsors fantastic this year?? Thanks to all the committee, especially Katherine, Ebony and Leanne who facilitated the sponsorship provided not only for the Championships but throughout the year, and enabled us to provide some wonderful prizes this year. Finally I d like to thank all those people who contribute to SCEC in so many ways. Firstly, our sponsors, without whose support we wouldn t be able to provide the prizes and trophies we do. Secondly, the volunteers on Larissa Chadwick Foxwood Warmbloods Tibby Barbour

Want to WIN a Prize of Substantive Value?? Interested? Read On! SCEC Volunteers Incentive Scheme 2012 Welcome to a new year with South Coast Equestrian Club! We are aiming forward this year with a number of incentives to get everybody involved and the club bounding ahead. As you are all aware a competition takes a lot of people to run smoothly and professionally, pencillers, scorers, runners, gear check stewards, announcers, raffle ticket sellers etc etc. In recognition for the work these volunteers do, we are running an exciting incentive scheme this year! 2012 Membership Forms available in this newsletter What it is! For every hour a person volunteers they will get a ticket, which then will be put into a draw for a major prize at the end of the year, a substantive prize because we think our volunteers are worth it! This will be drawn at the end of year presentation night and obviously will only be eligible for people who have helped out during the year. Obviously the committee aren t eligible (shucks!!!) and the more time you put into the club the more chances of winning! PS You will also get the vast appreciation of the SCEC committee who can not run the competitions with out you. So, if you can give the club a hand at the comps, when you have finished competing or haven t entered, please give Katherine Daszkowski or Deidre Brookes a call on the numbers provided in this newsletter a week or more before each competition day so that we can allocate you a rewarding and exciting job. southcoastequestrianclub.com.au
