ANIMAL INFORMATION Lambs, Calves and Goats Calves, lambs and goats must be born after 1st July 2017 Clipping, trimming and oiling are prohibited Lambs and goats can be spot washed - not to the extent that the natural oil has been washed from the fleece Calves judged in three categories: - Leading - Rearing - Type Lambs and goats judged in three categories each: - Leading - Calling - Rearing Animal categories will be divided into two sections for judging - Juniors Y0-4 - Seniors Y5-8 Calves / lambs / goats are not to be encouraged with a bottle during leading or calling on the day A registration form is required for each entry Enclosed footwear should be worn when exhibiting animals Remember all calves, lambs and goats can also be entered in the Central Calf Club Day on Thursday 2nd November at Barge Park. No qualifying placings at our calf club are required to attend this event. Other Pets Judged in either junior or senior category for Best Pet - depending on numbers An info board is required about your pet, maximum size A3 - can include pet details, photos, care information etc - age taken into account A registration form is required for each entry Please ensure your pet is brought to school in the appropriate cage to keep it safe from others and others safe from it! No dogs or cats allowed. On Calf Club morning, all animals and pet entries must be confirmed by reporting to the school office. Preschool Section This year we have an animal section for preschoolers. Preschoolers are welcome to join in the day with their pet lamb, goat or calf to lead and show their animals. Let the school office know if your preschooler will be participating.
ANIMAL JUDGING GUIDELIN Champion Awards - best overall from junior and senior placegetters in each animal category Reserve Champion Awards - runners up from above First Year Awards - best overall calf or lamb for first time exhibitors Decorated Pet Junior / Senior - open to all animal and pet entries Lambs / Goats Leading - Animal should walk steadily with the child, (animal s shoulder by the child s leg), should not be pulling ahead or dragging back. Child and animal will be required to stop and restart during their progress around the ring. Lead to be held in right hand about 15cm from the collar. Calling - Child shall leave animal with steward and walk approx. 6m away. When lamb/goat comes, lead should be quietly taken (not grabbed). Judged on promptness with which animal comes and how quietly it stands while lead retrieved. Pet Lamb / Goat (includes grooming and rearing) - Judged on general appearance and child s knowledge of breed, feeding and caring info, health issues. Age will be taken into account. Calves Rearing - Knowledge of calf, condition, feeding, health etc. Type (light and heavy breed) - General appearance, best of breed. Leading - as above for lambs / goats. Ring sizes - 12m x 12m approx. Correct figure 8 leading courses above.

All items excluding cakes are to be dropped off to the school office on Friday 27th October between 8.00am and 4.00pm. Cakes must be received by the school office on Saturday 28 October by 9.30am.
