Registration Application Process 1. Please follow the instructions below to help facilitate the Registration approval process. Do not return page 3 or page 4 with your registration application. 2. Please send completed registration and your check or money order for registration made payable to the IDHA. (See fee schedule below) 3. This is only an application for registration with the IDHA. After your horse is approved for registration/certification with the IDHA the process will be complete ONLY upon processing and verification of a DNA sample. 4. Email your 4 photos to: IDHAregistrar@yahoo.com 5. If your horse is already DNA tested with the University of Kentucky THROUH ANOTHER REGISTRY, please submit a copy of the test results along with the registration papers when you send this registration application to the IDHA. Horses with DNA already on record, with parentage verification pay the lower registration/certification fee. Photos: Photos must clearly show all four sides of the horse, full front, full left, full right, and full rear. Photos must include the horse s body from the head to the ground. Horse should stand with all four legs apart for full viewing. Forelock should be braided and/or tucked to one side for the front shot. For the rear shot, please braid tail so that it is not obstructing the horse s rear legs. The horse s mane must be braided for side shots in order to clearly show the horse s neck and shoulder conformation and markings. Any photos showing signs of graphic enhancements will be rejected. Horse should be clean and the only horse in the picture. There should be nothing in front of the horse this includes people, hands (ie. in front of muzzles), gates, fences, etc.) In other words, an unobstructed view of the horse. DNA analysis: Included in your Registration Application is your DNA form. Please print clearly and legibly. Please research as much information as you can. The Registrar will fill in where possible, but it is the responsibility of the owner to complete the form. Please follow the directions on the form for collecting and submitting hair. ALL DRUM HORSES MUST HAVE THEIR DNA SUBMITTED TO THE UNIVERSITY OF KY through the IDHA or another registry. NO EXCEPTIONS. Status Definitions: Drum Horse: Any combination of Gypsy, Clydesdale or Shire, where the Gypsy % does not go below 12.5% or above 50%. Papers are maroon heading. Foundation Drum Horse: A Drum Horse that was bred back to a Gypsy, where the Gypsy % is greater than 50%. Horses in this classification are to be used as breeding stock and cannot be shown as a Drum Horses. They can be shown as Foundation Stock. Papers are green heading. Foundation Breed: Foundation Breed are full registered Shire, Clydesdale, Gypsy, or a cross of a registered Clydesdale and registered Shire. Papers are blue heading.
