On Saturday October 3, 2015 I was playing at my home venue. Five minutes into the game I received a pass on the 7m line as part of a counter attack, but upon receiving the ball I was struck in the face from behind by a player. Since the incident I have had permanent impairment to my vision and despite extensive investigations by specialists, the injury has been deemed to be incurable due to optic nerve trauma.the damage done to my eye was life-changing and very difficult to adapt to, but I was determined to get back on court and compete at the same standard, and my main priority was to protect my good eye. My main aim is to continue playing sport for as long as possible and I am comforted in the knowledge that Bollé are helping me achieve that.
