We have a lot of ideas we would like to try. We also have had some ideas given to us by other members. Most of the comments and ideas we have had or heard before, some are brand new. We need to reach out to all of our members and find out what is important to them. In any large or small group of people you will never have complete agreement on any or all issues. We are in this position to work for all of you and everyone is important. One of the biggest challenges for all of us is the economy. We have been looking at ways to make life in the chapter a little easier on all of our pocketbooks. Nothing we do in our chapter is mandatory. NO ONE should feel pressured to do things, or to be at every function. We can only do what we can, when we can. We will be bringing some of these items up at our gatherings and try to reach the best option for the chapter. The levels program is and will be important to me. For the most part, the cost is only the patches or classes you might take. Some of you may or may not participate. That is your option! Some of us choose to wear our chapter shirts and vests to proudly represent our Chapter. Some want to have a diner ride every week, some don t. We ourselves can only make one or two dinner rides a month. You do what fits your schedule and budget best. We need to remember that we need to show a presence at other chapter events if we want them to come to ours. Should we cut back on our own rides in order to incorporate other chapter events into our schedule? Whatever we do, always remember to have fun first. Do only what you can do when you can do it. Never feel you have to do something because everyone else is. Relax and enjoy the ride. Life is too short to spend it with a heavy heart. We never knew when we attend our first Chapter Gathering in June of 2008 where that would lead us. That one gathering has taken us in new directions. We were two empty-nesters with nothing to do but ride our Wing alone, now we have lots of friends and lots of places to go. We feel so blessed to have joined an organization where we fit in and it seems we have known you all forever. We are glad to represent our chapter, We hope to bring new ideas and take new ideas from all of you and make our chapter bigger and better, with lots of fun. We want to thank all of you for voting us your 2010 Couple of the Year, it is such an honor and we will try our best to represent Chapter W and do you all proud. We're looking forward to Wingless weekend, it will be our second year to go. It was a lot of fun last year and in comes along just in time to take you away from Cabin Fever. Please let us know if you see anything in the newsletter that needs to be corrected, sometimes it takes a third or forth eye to find a mistake. We can always change the online version after the newsletter goes out. We are open to new ideas so please feel free to speak up. As I was putting this newsletter together and changing the staff names & numbers I was reminded of all the people who do what they do to make the chapter function and that we are in need of help. BIG THANKS to everyone on the list - and if you do anything for the chapter but are not on the staff you also deserve a thanks as well. We still need a couple of spots filled. There is information about what is involved with all of these positions on the District Website. If possible we would like to have a Motorist Awareness person or couple. Chapter W needs new Ride Coordinators since Scott will be having some surgery on his knees we really need someone to fill his shoes/boots! Also Mark gave his last Member Enhancement report due to his schedule - Since we would like to see the chapter grow - we need someone for that very important job! Membership Enhancement is all about FUN and that leads me to my favorite part of GWRRA. Poor Karen. We didn t know how much fun a Mascot could be till we introduced our new Chapter W Mascot at the January gathering - then lost him on the very same day Now some of us will be going to re-claim him. Almost forgot - his name is Waldo and he is a wolverine. Now it s a new year and a new riding season will begin in a few short months. Get your gear and your bikes ready, think about rides and places to go. We re on this ride together and we hope to ride with all of you sometime this year. Your New ACDs & COY Ken and Patti Kintner ATTENTION Anyone interested in going to Wing Ding please contact Ed Philo or Ken Kintner we are looking for a motel that would be 6-8 miles from the convention center that would be a little more cost effective for a 5 night stay. We plan to leave on Tuesday and return on Sunday. This will be our first Wing Ding so we would like some input from some who have been to Wing Ding before. Page 2

Craig White Here is a reader digest version of what I said on Sunday : Here is another reason for taking advantage of our First Aid/ CPR class on February 6 th. We are all getting older and the possibility of a heart attack or stroke is becoming higher and higher. There are some signs of each that we should know and recognize when they appear. For a heart attack some of the signs are: tightness or pain in the chest, hard time getting a breath, tingling in the arms and hands, pain shooting down your left arm. Women may have the same symptoms or may have others such as fatigue, blurry vision, and headaches are just a few. Signs of a stroke have some of the same symptoms along with others such as slurred speech, droopiness on one side of the face, numbness on one side of the body, unable to control one side of the body, and unable to move your limbs on one side. Again women may have other signs that men do not. In either case, if you are not feeling right you should seek medical attention immediately. It is always better to error on the side of safety. Although our First Aid and CPR class does not make us able to treat such situations, we will be able to calm and make as comfortable as possible anyone until skilled medical help arrives. Craig White Craig White - Email To & From Chapter H-2 Hi Angel, You mentioned that you might have a couple of people interested in taking this class on February 6 th. If there is anyone interested, please let me know ASAP. It was nice having the two of you at our gathering. Please take good care of Waldo until we can come and get him. Thanks, Craig White - Chapter Educator-Chapter W ANGEL Waldo is having fun and will be waiting for you to come pick him up. It is easier on him since he wasn't abducted but I don't know how he is taking the fact that he was given away for some bike tickets. Angel CD-Chapter H-2 Page 3

December 16th Where there s smoke THERES FIRE! December 23rd-Hoagie Man Deli This is where some of us saw Waldo for the very first time. Marcie is showing him with the vest she made for him. Page 4

December 30th at the Family Kitchen Karen was excited to learn a new skill; -she learned to save a name and phone number in her new cell phone This was the first time we let her watch Waldo... Mark gave his last MED report & Scott gave his last Ride Coordinator report Craig White was presented a plaque for a job well done in serving as our past Chapter Director We had two visitors from Chapter H-2, Ken Wiggle and CD Angel Cancel Karen Papworth was somehow put in charge of watching Waldo. Chapter H-2 was there to tell us about their Anniversary Party that is coming up on January 23rd. WHERES WALDO? We let our guests draw the tickets for our monthly drawings... Page 6

Just as Kent was having H-2 Draw the lucky winner Karen Papworth said If you Draw Dick s ticket - I ll give you Waldo So that is exactly what happened to Waldo! Dick won the bike tickets, and Karen gave our new mascot - Waldo, to Chapter H-2! And the winner is Dick Papworth! Ken Wiggle of Chapter H-2 says Give him up Dick gets the tickets and H-2 gets Waldo KAREN IS LUCKY I LEFT IT AT HOME Karen will get him back at H-2 s Anniversary Party LUCKY WINNERS at the January Gathering Raffle Tickets 50/50 Chapter Pride - Dick Papworth - Wayne Escott - Larry Wittkopf Waldo last seen with this man!
