Who we are At Team Bath Netball the whole staffing team are dedicated to ensuring we are providing and delivering a quality performance programme, whether on or off the court. Collectively we share the same ambitions of delivering a performance pathway that ensures athletes are fulfilling their potential as well as meeting their own individual needs. Team Bath Netball Head Office Phone: 01225 383791 Email: tbnfutures@bath.ac.uk Website: www.teambath.com/sport/netball/ Twitter: @TeamBathNetball Facebook: www.facebook.com/teambathnetball/ Lois Rideout Academy Head Coach Responsible for developing, defining and monitoring the Academy philosophy and culture and for ensuring that it is implemented. Responsible for the identification and development of talented players and facilitating their ongoing progression for the NSL and England Netball. From growing up in the South West and developing through the Team Bath pathway myself, I am very excited to be able to nurture the talent that is so prominent in our region. We are now able to offer an exciting programme over five sites with some fantastic coaches on board. Jess Thirlby Head Coach Strategic leadership of the netball programme with specific responsibility for the performance of the Team Bath Superleague Franchise. At Team Bath Netball we have always sought to provide youngsters with the opportunities to develop as both players and people and this exciting new set-up takes that approach to another level. The Futures Pathway will ensure that even more talented netballers from across the South West will get access to the Blue and Gold family and learn from our outstanding coaches, whilst also strengthening our links with the local communities, clubs and schools. Asha Francis Assistant Coach An overall responsibility for the performance of all teams within the University of Bath student club. Training Locations Athlete wellbeing is at the heart of this programme. Thanks to these regional centres, netballers will not have to travel far to attend coaching sessions and they will also have access to support services like physio, performance analysis, strength and conditioning training and nutritional advice. Jess Thirlby Athlete wellbeing is essential to our philosophy at Team Bath Netball. We aim to ensure athletes have minimal travel time and maximum coach-athlete contact time. Athletes are assigned to their Academy and/ or Hub based on proximity to their home address. All athletes attend Hub sessions on a Monday evening and selected athletes will also attend Tuesday sessions at their nearest Academy. As we progress further through the season, additional hub athletes will progress to the Tuesday Academy sessions. This selection applies to the pathway sessions only. Each Hub location will provide an S&C session either before or after the on-court session. Additional S&C sessions, match play, tournaments and training dates may be added during the season. These additional sessions will be communicated to you by your Academy and/or Hub coach. Team Bath Netball Superleague, U21, U19 & U17 representative squads training base & Academy sessions. This is our commitment to increasing Coach: Athletes contact time and delivering the highest quality sessions in performance environments. At stages throughout the year the ratio of these sessions will adjust to reflect key competition times, exams etc. The structure of training may be reduced or include camp based sessions to help reduce frequency of sessions in periods of high pressure whilst maintaining training volume - train smarter. We will aim to have Academy Days whereby all staff and athletes come together. Camps for 2018 will be communicated soon. The Futures programme is not a term time Academy and so you will need to prepare and commit to being available during school holidays. Expectations of Athletes We are here to support you on your journey to becoming an elite netballer. With that in mind it is essential that we track how you are doing and take action, when necessary, to make sure that you are working with us to maintain high standards both in terms of performance and behaviour. We will monitor your development and progression in three areas: your physical development, how well you demonstrate elite athlete behaviours and attitude, and your playing performance level. PLEASE NOTE: When working towards becoming an elite netballer the behaviour and attitude that you apply to your training is of at least equal, if not greater importance than physical performance. In order for us to provide the best possible environment for your development we need the following: Excellent communication. We would like you to talk to us about what is going on; tell us about your game at the weekend or a selection that you missed. Tell us if you are feeling under pressure or it has been a great week. The more we know the more we can support and celebrate. Be there. This means we need you to make as many of the sessions as you can (even if you are injured), with your head ready for action. Work hard. Treat every session as an opportunity to get better and commit to it. We are here to support you on your journey to becoming an elite netballer Culture at Team Bath: As a franchise we have an identifiable, coherent and shared philosophy and culture. We are Team Bath, we are one.
