What is Outward Bound Costa Rica? Outward Bound Costa Rica is an adventure based school located in the heart of Costa Rica. For over 20 years, students have ventured to Costa Rica and Panama in search of life-changing experiences, cultural immersion, and leadership skills.

This allows students to disconnect from their busy lifestyles and better connect with the experiences they have in Central America and with the people they meet. Girl Scout Destinations Rainforest, River & Reef On our Rainforest, River, & Reef course, you will immerse yourself in Central American culture with traditional family homestays, give back with a day of service in a local nature reserve, and experience everything from exploring a worldrenowned beach to visiting the vibrant, bustling artisan market of San Jose. Costa Rica & Panama Service Challenge On this 14-day course, you will dedicate your time to assisting with community projects in an indigenous village in Costa Rica and to protecting the unique and fragile ecosystem of Panama.
Scuba & Sea Turtle Adventure Students not only explore the crystal -clear Caribbean waters of Panama while learning to scuba dive, they dedicate time to protecting & learning about the region s diverse marine life through a meaningful conservation project for sea turtles. Catching Waves Learn about surf dynamics and philosophy as well as about the unique coastal ecology of the country s Pacific Coast. Our instructors provide detailed and holistic instruction about how to read waves, tides, and currents. They give group and personal instruction on surfing from the first time you stand up on a board to when you catch your first wave. Sea Turtle Retreat (winter) During your time in tropical Costa Rica you will work to protect endangered sea turtles at Playa Ostional, one of the world s most important nesting sites for olive ridley sea turtles.

Rainforest Hike & Homestay Discover the true meaning of off the beaten path as you embark on a deep-jungle trek where spectacular rainforest valleys, cascading waterfalls, and winding rivers will both awe and challenge you. Caribbean Scuba & Service Discover the natural wonders of Panama by lending a hand in local conservation projects and scuba diving tropical Caribbean waters.
Summer Expeditions (Open Enrollment) Open enrollment students are students enrolling on their own or with a friend. These students can mix and match their courses to stay for a duration of 2-6 weeks. Pacific Surf & Service Discover Costa Rica by surfing warm-water breaks on its world-renowned beaches, all while you engage in meaningful service projects to support local communities. Catch your first waves or hone your surfing skills as you paddle alongside our experienced, professional instructors and earn your American Red Cross First Aid and CPR certifications. Pacific Surf & Cert Spend 8 days learning to surf or honing your skills as you paddle alongside our experienced, professional instructors and ensure your dedication to staying safe in the water by earning your American Red Cross First Aid and CPR certifications.
Summer Expeditions (18+) Adults ages 18 and up can discover Costa Rica or Panama in just one actionpacked week or combine both the courses below for a two week unforgettable experience. 18+ Costa Rica Begin with a rainforest trek that will bring you to the heart of Costa Rica s landscape and its traditions. Learn backcountry skills as you navigate through dense tropical jungle to a series of rural homestays. Rappel an 80-foot waterfall, and harvest sugar cane from scratch before leaving the jungle and beginning your beach phase. While along the Pacific Coast, conclude your experience in Costa Rica at Manuel Antonio National Park by learning to surf with our experienced instructors. 18+ Panama Discover the natural wonders of Panama s ecosystems and absorb the Panamanian way of life while learning to scuba dive and sea kayak. Begin your adventure with a sea kayaking expedition through the tropical islands of the Bocas del Toro archipelago. There, earn your NAUI scuba certification while diving among vibrant coral reefs, colorful fish, mangroves, and a sunken ship.
Custom Programs Custom Programs allow a group of students or a Girl Scout troop to design their own program based on the groups unique objectives. Program platforms include Spanish immersion, team building and community service. Custom groups choose their length of stay and what activities they want to participate in. Whatever your desire- we can make it happen!
Semester Programs Participate in a Semester or Gap Year course to get the most of your outdoor adventure. Semester courses allow students to gain more advanced certifications, step up their leadership skills, and experience more of everything Costa Rica and Panama have to offer.
