Conclusions: Gallery 75DF applied as an over-the-top application to Buddleia species used in this trial was considered a safe application as no significant or consistent injury was recorded for the duration of the trial. There were however few plants which exhibited possible stunting however this symptom was very inconsistent and could not be validated as injury due to treatment. No evidence of chlorosis, necrosis was observed in any of the treatments. Trial Comments MATERIALS / METHODS PLOT OVERVIEW Plots were arranged in a commercial production like setting. One gallon containers were placed on a fabric "weed mat" with plots on 24" centers. Containers within each plot were spaced on 12" centers. PLANT MATERIAL Plants were "Liners" and obtained from a local producer of woody ornamental liner stock. All plants were considered to be in a good state of health with an established root system. Plants were considered to be at a suitable stage for transplanting. All liners were pruned to 3.0" prior to transplanting. MEDIA The mix was considered a standard "nursery mix" for commonly grown containerized woody ornamentals. The mix was composed of 25% sand + 75% fir bark shavings. NUTRIENTS All nutrients were provided with a 9 mos CRF (controlled release fertilizer) which was incorporated at time of blending other soil additives. No additional nutrients were supplied during the trial period. IRRIGATION Two hours following the herbicide application.60 inches of water was applied via overhead impact sprinklers (Robert's Irrigation) on a head-to-head design to both remove granules from foliage and move herbicide into upper soil profile. A rain gauge was strategically placed in the plot area to capture irrigation water for measurement. Two daily short cycle irrigations (60 sec) were made using a low volume FAIN spray stake type emitter displacing water in a 180 degree spray pattern over the soil surface. APPLICATION Over-the-top spray applications were applied using a CO2 backpack sprayer with a single flat fan nozzle flat fan wand held at 18" above the crop. A "drift hood" was used during the application to prohibit contamination of adjacent plots. CULTURAL NOTES In order to minimize affects of competitive weeds in plots a hand weeding was done just prior to app B. EVALUATION METHODOLOGY Evaluation methodology consisted of close observation for chlorosis, necrosis of young developing growth, stunting, overall plant quality and any other abnormality when compared to the UTC treatment.
