There is also a bus leaving Holy Angels Parish in Little Falls at 6:30 AM with a Mass before at 6 AM. Suggested donation is $25 to help defray the cost of the bus. continued from page 1 and State contests are held. This is probably the most recognized youth event that the Knights of Columbus runs each year. If you are not participating this year, consider doing so next year; it is not that much work. As part of this newsletter, we are continuing to publish Help Wanted listings. See the listing at the end for some help with the company that provides the free Child ID kits. If someone else has a posting they wish to provide, just email to the address below with an ad and it will be added. Also, if you are scheduling a First or Second Degree in the next few weeks, please forward the information here so that it can be included as well. At least update the state website as this is also checked before publication each month. It s not too early to start advertising the Federation Golf Outing. Sponsors can be gathered at any time and you can take the time to put your foursomes together. See the information at the end of the newsletter for details. To have your information included in this newsletter, please send an email to patfednews@gmail.com with the information to be added and we will get this in as soon as we can. I would suggest that you send at least a month in advance to allow time for inclusion and the publishing of the newsletter. Thank you for all your assistance in making this a good tool for you and council. Help Wanted Child ID Kits Salesmen wanted From Ray Lillie FDD (chairman of the Child ID Kit program): I am the Chairman of the Child ID Kit Program for the New Jersey State Council. This is a program where Councils can order Child ID Kits at no cost to them. The Kits are ordered from National Child ID Kits/Student Lifeline in Whitestone, Queens, New York. More information on ordering the kits is in the Grand Knight Handbook. The printing costs are paid for by ads that are printed on the backs of the kits, similar to what you find on the back of a church bulletin. The head of National Child ID Kits, Richard Signarino, is looking to hire salesmen or saleswomen to sell the ads that go on the backs of the kits. Right now, the State Council has a backlog of outstanding orders from Councils because Richard does not have enough salespeople to sell the ads. This is an opportunity for a Brother Knight, or a Sister Columbiette who may be looking for work. It would be helpful, but not absolutely necessary, if one has had previous experience with sales involving cold calling. Anyone who is interested can call Richard Signarino at 800-543-3829, or e-mail him at studentlifeline@aol.com. Paterson Federation Newsletter 3

Charity - The Spirit of Christmas As many councils are aware, due to changes in personnel, the Fr. English Center does not have the ability to go to the various parishes and take food back to the Center. As such, Catholic Charities has asked the Knights of Columbus to assist by bringing the food from their parishes to the Fr. English Center. To date, only a few councils have responded to this request. We are hoping that other councils in parishes that work with the Fr. English Center can participate. Please let State Secretary Bruce DeMolli know if your council can assist. This is a visible display of charity to those in need. To that end, one of the councils that is helping with deliveries to the Center is the Long Valley Council 10419. In addition to bringing food to them, they recently went to the Center to deliver Christmas presents to the young people helped by the Center. One of the Knights, Walter Lublanecki summarized the visit. On the Friday before Christmas Brothers Mike Leyden, Bobby Scanga and myself had the privilege of experiencing first-hand Christmas at the Father English Center. With the help of JR s van (JR had to work but so willingly loaned us his van) we were able to pick up hundreds of toys from various churches in the diocese and deliver them to the Center. I know from your emails that many of you wanted to help, but due to work and other commitments weren t able since the pickups could only be done on certain weekdays. We were also asked if one of us would like to play Santa Claus for all of the children at the Center, and Bobby Scanga volunteered. Bobby did a remarkable job playing Santa Claus (he is a natural), and Deacon Bob already booked him for next year. Above all, we were able to see the joy and excitement on the faces of the young children as they received their gifts. The Center serves thousands of needy families in the Paterson area, and to see all of the volunteers working together so these children could have a Merry Christmas was a great experience. The Center distributed over 5,000 presents during this Christmas Season. I would like to thank all who donated furniture, clothes and household items to the Center throughout the past year. All donations were greatly appreciated and immediately put to good use. With at least two months of winter remaining, winter coats and clothes are desperately needed (all sizes, children to adult). Please contact me, Deacon Bob or Kim at OLM if you have anything that you would like to donate. If any council would also like to donate clothes or winter coats, please feel free to contact the GK John Clary who can put you in touch with the others. In a similar manner, Our Lady Queen of Peace Council 6139 in Hewitt, NJ purchased gifts for a single parent family in the parish. Your editor and his daughter purchased the gifts, wrapped them, and on Christmas Eve delivered them to the family. After spending about an hour with the mom and a couple of her children, every time she saw the gifts sitting on the floor, she started to tear up and thanked the council for being so generous. I can honestly say that this visit was probably one of the best gifts I had ever received. This is what the spirit of Christmas and the gift of Our Lord is all about and it shows us why Charity is the first principle of our Order. Paterson Federation Newsletter 4

Paterson Federation Knights of Columbus Third Annual Donald E. Ryan Golf Outing Friday, September 25, 2015 Minebrook Golf Club - Hackettstown, NJ The Paterson Federation Knights of Columbus will be conducting our Third Annual Donald E. Ryan Golf Outing on Friday, September 25, 2015 at Minebrook Golf Club in Hackettstown, N.J. The Paterson Federation Knights of Columbus are asking for your much-needed support. The Paterson Federation helps many charities and activities within and around Paterson Diocese. 100% of the proceeds from the event will benefit three great causes: the Federation s Scholarship Fund (50%), Diocesan Seminarians (25%) and the Department for Persons with Disabilities (25%). We invite you to join us as a golfer and/or as a sponsor for this event. By supporting us, you will be promoting your company, cause or council to a group of people who are loyal to its sponsors, as well as to the many individuals and businesses who will be participating at the outing itself. We are again anticipating a highly successful and well-attended outing. Please see the attached order form for more information. We thank you in advance for your support for this cause that is so important to the work of the Knights of Columbus. Vivat Jesus!
