Page 4 Katy Book Wars Calling all readers! We re forming teams to compete in the first annual Katy Book Wars! In March, the teams will compete in a school-wide competition to determine the team that will represent the school in a district-wide competition in late April/early May. Students will answer questions about the author, characters, plot, setting, setting, as well as quotes found in the twenty books on the 2018 Texas Lone Star reading list and five books by Jennifer A. Nielsen. For more information and to pick up a parent permission slip, see Mrs. Alidon in the library. Reflections Contest With positive recognition as the focus of this program, rather than competition, students of all ages and abilities can experience the benefits of creative expression and help in finding their own voice in telling their unique story. Through the efforts of Local PTAs throughout the US, millions of students have found a creative outlet in the areas of dance choreography, film production, literature, music composition, photography, and visual arts. This year's Reflections theme is HEROES AROUND ME. The MMJH deadline is this Friday, November 2nd and all entries are judged locally soon after. Those with enough advancement points go on to State judging which announces awards in March. National advancement awards are announced in May. We know there are some talented Bobcats out there!
