Upcoming Closures Saturday, April 9th: No Regular Menu after 4 pm. Reservations only for Opening Gala Friday, May 6th: Closed for Enos Outing Sunday, May 8th: Reservation Only for Mother s Day all day the L igonier LINKS April 1, 2016 Volume 13, Issue 2 FROM THE PRESIDENT OF THE CLUB ~ DAN HORNER I t s been a wonderful start to the year with a dry and mostly warm March. The grounds crew was able to take advantage of the mild winter and early spring to prep the course for early play. The first cutting of the greens was the first week of March! If you haven t gotten your clubs out of winter storage, don t wait any longer. The course is in great shape for this time of year. Hopefully this is the start to a nice, long golf season. If you ve been out on the course during the last two weeks of March, you may have noticed that the sand traps have been edged and refilled. We brought in close to 100 tons of white sand this year. Thank you to everyone who has prepurchased carts and guest fee packages. Both you and the club benefit from these early offers. You have until April 15th to get in on the discounts. Easter was last weekend and once again we were filled to the brim. I can t stress enough the importance of getting in your sign ups and reservations early as many events are getting great turnouts these days. The new menu in the clubhouse has been well received. The chef and his staff will be changing items monthly, so be sure to keep an eye out for new and seasonal food choices. Events will be at full tilt before you know it. Already on the horizon we have the Opening Gala, Opening Day, Member-Guest, and Mother s Day. Be sure to check the calendar and keep an eye on your email for important updates and announcements. From our Golf Pro ~ John L et s start out with good news: a Swedish study published last year shows that GOLFERS live on an average 5 years longer than non-golfers, coupled with fewer cognitive disorders than most other segments of society. If you are reading this part of the news letter I can only believe that you are a golfer, so congratulations!!! This year the season kicks off with Opening Day on Saturday April 16 th. Format for both Men and Ladies this upcoming year will be Best 2 Balls of 4. Different this year will be that sign-up for both Men and Ladies will be closed at 5pm on Thursday the 14 th. Teams will be made at that time with the existing players. Coffee and donuts will be served from 8:00-9:00, with the Shotgun start at 9:15am. All teams will be computer generated ABCD; no pre-set teams will be accepted. Prizes will be awarded following Lunch. (Continued on page 3)
