Dear Dance Team Candidates and Parents/Guardians Thank you for your interest in trying out for a position on the Season 3 2018-2019 RCHS Dance Team. I appreciate your enthusiasm and interest in the program. This can truly be a rewarding experience; however, it also requires hard work, a passion for the sport, and a tremendous time commitment. Additionally, a team member must be able to work well with others, the choreographer and the coach, as dance team is a team sport! Please be aware of this as you prepare to take on the challenges and responsibilities of becoming a member of the RCHS Divine Diamonds. Included in this packet, you will find information that will help guide you in making an informed decision to tryout as well as information about the tryout process and anticipated costs. If you have further questions, do not hesitate to contact the Coach Timberlake. Contact information is on the packet front page. NOTE: Dance team is a nearly year round commitment from May to April with a few weeks for summer and holiday vacations. Participation in other extracurricular activities is difficult but possible. Please keep this in mind and discuss other activities with the coach prior to tryouts. Tryout Attire: Black Shorts/Leggings* Solid White or Red t-shirt* Black Sports Bra*Sneakers Hair MUST be pulled out of face Absolutely NO Jewelry Nails MUST be short AND neutral in nail color (pinks and browns) *April 27 th Face MUST be made up with a natural look*

ROCKDALE COUNTY HIGH SCHOOL 2018 Dance Team Tryout Guidelines The dates and times for the RCHS Dance Clinic are as follows: Monday 4-23-18 3:15*-6:15pm Tuesday 4-24-18 3:15*-6:15pm Wednesday 4-25-18 3:15*-6:15pm Thursday 4-26-18 3:15*-6:15pm Friday (Final Tryout Day) 4-27-18 3:15*-until All paperwork, along with a $10 tryout fee, must be turned in no later than Friday, April 20 th in order to receive clearance to tryout. LATE PACKETS CAN BE TURNED IN ON MONDAY APRIL 23 RD WITH A $15 LATE FEE REGISTRATION PAYMENT. This includes those who were a member of the 2017-2018 Season 2 RCHS Divine Diamonds Dance Team (ABSOLUTELY NO EXCEPTIONS!!!). *Middle School Students you must turn in your packet/fee, in a labeled concealed envelop to the RCHS front office. There will be a large manila Dance Team envelop which will be checked daily. You will receive notification if packet is incomplete. Complete packets should include ALL of the following below: Application + $10 tryout fee Printed head shot photo Typed (Word) Essay Transcript or Report Card copy (middle school only) Physical Form (it is the responsibility of those currently involved in other sports to include a copy of your physical examination in your packet) Parent Permission/Release Form Parent/Candidate Agreement Three (3) teacher recommendation forms (two (2) MUST be from Core teachers) recommendation forms are included in tryout total Teacher recommendations are required and must be turned in to Coach Timberlake s box by the recommending teacher by Thursday, April 19 th. Middle school teacher recommendations can be submitted with packet. RCHS DIVINE DIAMONDS DANCE TEAM ESSAY Please take your time to answer the following questions. Typed and printed on Word What qualities do you feel a Divine Diamonds Dance Team Member embodies? How can Dance Team member s best represent their school and student body? What are your strengths and weaknesses? All RCHS candidates are expected to report to room #203 by 3:15pm daily. All middle school candidates are expected to report to room #203 by 4:15pm daily. You may use the room back door daily, it will be labeled. **Not adhering to this guideline will result in immediate dismissal/termination from the tryout process

BEFORE TRYOUTS 1. Get a current physical on file 2. Complete all application materials 3. Give teacher recommendation forms to 3 teachers. TWO (2) must be your current Math, Science, English, or Social Studies teachers and ONE (1) may be from an elective teacher. Make sure that they are aware that they must turn in your form to Coach Timberlake s mailbox if you are at Rockdale or submit in a sealed envelope if you are coming from another school by Friday April 19 th. 4. Submit all application materials to Coach Timberlake in room 203 or to the front office (Ms. Powell-Harris) ON or BEFORE April 19 th, 2018. DURING TRYOUTS 1. All candidates must report to room #203 on time each day of tryouts in appropriate tryout attire. 2. Attend ALL sessions. (If in season at the time of tryouts with another sport, see Coach Timberlake before the date of tryouts). 3. Each candidates is responsible for learning all material; therefore, absences and tardies will affect your performance and ability to make the squad. 4. NO VISITORS WILL BE ALLOWED DURING THE PRACTICE SESSIONS OR TRYOUTS. ALL DANCE TRYOUTS SESSIONS ARE CLOSED (THIS INCLUDES PARENTS) AFTER TRYOUTS 1. All candidates who are selected for a team are required to attend a MANDATORY meeting on Friday May 11, 2018 at 7:00pm. An initial deposit of $200 will be due at this time. NO EXCEPTIONS!!! 2. All those candidates selected must adhere to the payment deadline schedule. A monthly payment schedule will be distributed at the meeting. 3. All those selected must attend summer camp (July TBA, 2017). The cost of summer camp is estimated $75 per team member. Team members will and attend camp during the month of July and work with Team Choreographer Jacques Bell. Make sure you consider other obligations that may interfere with mandatory dance events before making a decision to tryout. Those who make a Team will receive a tentative summer conditioning/practice schedule no later than May 18 th. IMPORTANT!! IMPORTANT!! IMPORTANT!! IMPORTANT!! In order to make the cost of Dance Team manageable for parents, we will offer a payment installment plan for those parents who will not be paying in full. Payments will begin April 27 th with the first payment of $200. Dancer Sponsorship Letters will be distributed at initial team meeting, which allow selected candidates to raise funds towards their account. Dancers and parents need to be aware of the enormous commitment it will take on all or our parts to build a successful program. Fundraising will continue through the year to offset choreographer fees, travel, banquet, extra costume costs and EVERY dancer and EVERY parent are expected to participate. If you choose not to participate in the fundraisers there will be a fee assessed for every fundraiser and added to the dancers account. **THERE ARE ABSOLUTELY NO REFUNDS*
