About our Camp Director Coach Mark Hobbs joined the CHS faculty in 2014 after moving his family from NJ. He has been in Christian education since 2004 and currently teaches Bible, Health, Physical Education, and also coaches Varsity Boys Basketball. Mark is passionate about his calling as a teacher-coach-mentor because, it is a ministry that allows me to impact the hearts and minds of youth for the glory of God. This summer, Mark s wife, Angela, will be joining the camp staff. She has volunteered at camp the past two summers and is excited to join us in a part time role. She received her Elementary Education degree and has three years teaching experience. The Hobbs family lives in Trumbull and attend Black Rock Congregational Church in Fairfield. Meet our Camp Staff Erika Conlan (Assistant Camp Director)- Erika is in her third summer working for CHS Summer Camp. She is a junior at Southeastern Christian University majoring in Elementary Education. Previously, she attended Emmanuel College in Boston, majoring in Theater Arts. Erika loves to cook, exercise, shop at thrift stores, and hang out with her awesome family. Her favorite color is purple. Peter Ziegler (Active Games Coordinator) - Peter is in his fifth summer working at CHS Summer Camp, where he started as a volunteer, and is now in his third summer officially on staff. He is a 2017 graduate of CHS where he studied in the Early University program, as well as started on the varsity basketball team. Peter has a servant s heart and loves kids, both of which he learned from his mother, Stacie Ziegler, a PE teacher at CHS. Rachel Mack (Arts and Crafts Coordinator) - Rachel will be joining CHS Summer Camp for the first time this summer since 2014 after she graduated from CHS. Rachel is currently a junior at Geneva College majoring in Elementary and Middle School Education. Both of her parents are CHS faculty members, and she aspires to be a teacher one day too. Rachel loves Pinterest, hanging out with her sisters, and being outside. Allie Conlan (Recreational Coordinator) - Allie is in her second summer working at our camp. She will be a senior at Trumbull High in the Agriscience program. Allie was a great addition to the staff last summer in a part time role and is looking forward to working full time this year. She has a well-rounded personality that appreciates sports, the arts, and slowing down to read a good book. Other CHS Summer Camp counselors and volunteers round out an amazing staff that love kids, work hard, and are talented in many, many ways!
WEEK #1: June 13-16 (No Camp Monday, June 12) Animal Kingdom Cost: $180 Animals! Animals! Animals! Everyone loves the soft, furry, scaly, slimy, wild world of animals! Join our herd as we learn, draw, play games, and even ACT LIKE all your favorites from the animal kingdom. WEEK #2: June 19-23 Lego Life Lego is Life! Come this week to show off your skills at building your greatest Lego creation. You don t need to bring your own Legos, but feel free to add to the fun. Expect other building activities as well, beyond the world of Lego. Future engineers will love this camp! WEEK #3: June 26-30 Nature Appreciation Join us for a week of focusing on the awesome creation around us! Nature hikes, scavenger hunts at local Trumbull parks, and observing through science all of the amazing things we see every day. If you love outdoors, animals, bugs, and sunshine,you won t want to miss this week!
WEEK #4: July 3-7 (No Camp Tuesday, July 4) Everyday s a Holiday Cost: $180 At CHS Summer Camp, every day is as fun as a holiday but how fun would it be to have holidays at Summer Camp? Come celebrate with us as we choose a different holiday each day and turn the calendar upside down. WEEK #5: July 10-14 Superheroes Come fly up-up-and-away for a super week of fun and games, hero-themed crafts, real hero guests, and anything and everything superhero. Wear your favorite t-shirts and capes because we re ALL superheroes this week! WEEK #6: July 17-21 Art for Everyone Picasso? Van Gogh? You??? Come try out your creativity as we make art simple and fun for our novice artists or be challenged to grow as an aspiring artist. It s up to YOU! Everything from sculpting, painting, drawing, and more! Art lessons are in a group format (not one-on-one) so if you are looking for fun with friends while experiencing different mediums, then this week is for you!
WEEK #7: July 24-28 Kids Kitchen Join us as we kick off the summer in the kitchen. Cool off with homemade popsicles, munch on almost-allallergen-free cookies, or enjoy one of our other Chef s Specials as we learn how to make healthy snacks and the occasional treat! WEEK #8: July 31-August 4 Write Around the World Ever think about travelling around the world? Ever read stories from other countries, continents, or even planets?!?! Well this week, you ll get a chance to do all of that and then some! Join us as we read, write, act, play, sing, and eat all things multicultural. If you are an explorer, an author, or have a great imagination, then this week is for you! WEEK #9: August 7-11 Wide World of Sports If you name it, we ll play it. Basketball, volleyball, soccer, hockey, whiffle ball, badminton, and football -- just to name a few! We can t wait to kick-off this week with you sportsthemed art, board games, and more!
WEEK #10: August 14-18 Wet N Wild After a long, hot summer, it s time to cool off together and get Wet n Wild! Water balloons, water guns, hoses, buckets, pools, and QUASSY!!! Our splashiest week of the summer, no question! Get your suits and towels ready and sign up now! WEEK #11: August 21-25 (No Camp Friday, August 25) Summer Rewind The final week of the summer is the most fun! Because we look back on all the MOST FUN stuff we ve done all year. Come hang out with us one more time as we re-visit some of the best activities, games, crafts, and FOOD of the summer. It s always a tearful goodbye, but we do it in the most fun way possible.
