Illegal alignment occurs when, at the moment of serve the CB and LB on the serving team are both nearer the right side line than the server (RB). When a back-row player who is close to the net and whose hands are above the height of the net, makes contact with the ball that is coming from the opponent, it is considered an illegal block. The first referee must consider, regardless of any other factors, whether a back-row player in front of the attack line is intending to block the ball.
