Match reports 2012 August 19 Home vs Aspenden Hatley won by one wicket Hatley played Aspenden on Sunday and had to start the game with 10 men due to Smokey Jakes leaving all his kit at home. Bob Warman was back behind the stumps since his last game in 1984 after vowing never to do it again due to his record 84 byes v Tadlow. Batting first, Aspenden scored 170 for 9. Youngster Joey Hooley had a special day in the field. Hatley had to make a few changes to the team as Matty Dixon and Luke Knibbs were away at a speed drifting weekend. After tea, skipper Hooley went missing with the scorecard and match ball causing the local police to send up the helicopter only to find him asleep after a huge tea. Hatley scored 171 for 8, winning by one wicket in the last over. The Match Ball sponsor was Ian Keeves Rodent Rescue of Tadlow. August 12 Home vs Cockenach Hatley won by 61 runs Hatley played Cockenach on Sunday in only their third home game of the season. Young Matty Dixon turned up late as his 1970 Ford Fiesta got a puncture and he had to wait for his brother Cliff to pick him up. Luke Knibbs didn't play as he was playing in his first snooker tournament with his brother Julian. Hatley batted first and scored 243 for 8 Tom Slater 68 and Chris Hood his first ever 50. Cliff Dixon came in at the end and smashed an aggressive 0 not out. Cockenach were bowled out 182. Mr Cricket Larder took four wickets with a great spell of pace bowling. Bob Warman was dropped for one game as he blamed Mick Marshall for stealing his darts so he could not play in the Arrington Open. Hatley played at Shefford on Sunday. Hatley only managed to get nine men due to Vice Skipper Knibbs forgetting to ask two senior players Perry and Dixon. President Mr Marshall called him a buffoon and demanded that the club ban him for one game. Hatley welcomed back Bob Warman who has just returned from a two month darts tour of the Balearics. Shefford batted first and set a total of 153 for 9, Hatley s Jack 'Pizza' Hooley taking two wickets and new keeper Nick Bennett having a blinder. Hatley s Luke Knibbs was rushed to hospital after a freak accident involving a fishing hook and a kebab. In reply Hatley won by 7 wickets with 18 overs to spare Bob Warman 67, Tim Davenport 11 or 150 balls. The Match Ball sponsor was Perrys Pasties of Tadlow. July 29 Away vs Aspenden Hatley lost by nine wickets Hatley played at Aspenden on Sunday. Hatley were without Matty Dixon because he was putting some new go faster strips on his 1970 Fiesta and Luke Knibbs because he was representing Uganda in the swimming at the Olympics. Hatley batted first and scored 212 for 7. Andy 'Smokey' Jakes scored 52 and Nick Lenton 42 off 200 balls. Jack Hooley refused to bat as the bowling was too quick. Aspenden won by nine wickets when vice skipper Knibbs reversed the bowling order. Jack and Greg Hooley can't play next week as they are staring in a remake of Carry on Camping which is being filmed in Lincolnshire. Matt Knibbs had a 'shocking game then blew the electrics in the pub after the game while playing darts. The Match Ball sponsor was The Peter Twigg Novelty Rock Company of Tadlow. July 15 Away vs Guilden Morden Hatley lost by 101 runs Hatley played Guilden Morden on Sunday. Luke Knibbs did not play as he was testing his new high performance BMX bike at the Olympic Track and Matty Dixon didn't play as he was burning around Hatley in his 1970 Ford Fiesta with his brother Cliffy. Morden batted first and scored 241 for 5 despite vice skipper saying Hatley had a strong bowling side. In reply, Hatley were 140 all out, the only run scorers being Jakes, Lenton and Mr Cricket Larders Pads. Chippy, Willy and Frank did not bat as they were at the ice cream van.

Greg Desmond Hooley had a tough time in the field and walked off to confront President Mick Marshall who called him a buffoon. The Match Ball sponsor was Steve Hooley eye patches of Tadlow. July 1 Away vs Hare Street Hatley won by five wickets Hatley played Hare Street on Sunday and there was comebacks from the veteran pair Paul Knibbs and Chris Hood. With a debut appearance from Micky Allen's young lad Basher Allen, Hatley were without the Dixon boys Matty and Cliff due to Matty showing his fully restored 1970 Ford Fiesta at Wimpole Car Rally. Hare Street batted first and were 82 all out, the wickets being shared around by the varied attack. Hatley won by five wickets with Brendan 'Mr C' Larder scoring a career best 36. Skipper Frank Hooley decided not to let Basher, Dobbo and Hoody bat because they turned up late as they were at Tadlow air show. The Match Ball sponsor was Paul Knibbs Fruit and Veg Stall at Tadlow market. June 17 Home vs Shefford Hatley lost by 95 runs Hatley played Shefford at home in only the second game of the season. Hatley welcomed two new players, Brian Gray and his boy, Dan. Due to his gig at Tadlow Arena being cancelled, Hatley's Luke Knibbs played. Batting first, Shefford scored 190 for 5. Jeffrey Rainbow 58 and DJ legend Pat Sharp 71 not out. Hatley wicket keeper Cliffy Dixon was carried off the pitch by his young lad Matty after a nasty collision with Hatley s pace bower Matt Knibbs. In reply Hatley were bowled out for 95, with Cliff Dixon batting 60 balls while concussed without getting a run. DJ Pat Sharp took 4 for 8. Hatley s president and scorer M Marshall was away in Turkey attending a stamp convention. After 50 years of service to local cricket, Luke Knibbs has been invited to carry the Olympic Torch from Tadlow to Wimpole Cafe. The Match Ball sponsor was Matt Cowell of Tadlow Deluxe Sleeping Bags Service. May 27 Away vs Cockenach Hatley won by 24 runs

Hatley played Cockenach at the home of cricket, Longstowe, on Sunday in what turned out to be the first match of the season, all the others having been rained off. Hatley welcomed back Greg Hooley who is the new Milk Tray man in the Cadbury's advert. Hatley legend Luke 'Kallis' Knibbs has sadly retired and is now in a tribute band called Right Said Frank. Hatley batted first and scored 271 for 6. Nick Lenton and Andy 'Smokey' Jakes knocked up 129 and 49 respectively, while Matt mashed the ball round the field Knibbs was 59 not out were the main scorers. Cockenach scored 247 for 3 with Jamie Gooch taking two wickets. Robin Perry did not play as he was in Mundersley at the Freddie Mercury look a like competition. Greg 'Chocolate drop' Hooley refused to bat and has received a two game ban enforced by President Mick Marshall. The Match Ball sponsor was Cliffy & Young Matty Dixon Carpenters of Tadlow.
