Open to children aged 12-16 (on the day of Ballymena show) who have not already qualified in 2017 AN Irwin & Sons/NISA Clydesdale Championship 2018 Ballymena Show is a Qualifying Show for the AN Irwin & Sons / NISA Clydesdale Championships 2018 Points will be awarded for animals placed 1st (5points), 2nd (4points) and 3rd (3points) in the respective Clydesdale classes. In addition all horses forward in a class will be awarded one point. These points, together with those gained at other NISA Member shows staging Clydesdale classes during the 2018 Show Season will be totalled but where more than one Show (having heavy horse classes) takes place on the same day, points gained will only count from one of these shows. Exhibitors must include the name of their animal(s) on the entry form. Trophies will be awarded to the exhibitors of the six highest placed horses. Qualifying Shows: Killyleagh, Ballymena, Ballymoney, Lurgan, Armagh, Coleraine, Lisburn & Saintfield District, Newry, Omagh, Castlewellan, Co Londonderry and Antrim. Clydesdale Horse Society Shield The Clydesdale Horse Society Shield (which will be supplied and engraved by The Clydesdale Horse Society) will be awarded to the best yearling or 2 year old Colt or Filly, registered or eligible for registration with the Society, not having won a Shield before in its lifetime. The exhibitor must be a current member of the Clydesdale Horse Society. Young Handlers Class An engraved medal is presented by The Clydesdale Horse Society to the best young handler aged 12 to 16 on the day of the show who has not already qualified in 2017 and up to 30 April 2018. The capabilities of the handler are to be assessed, not the animal being led. The qualifier will be eligible to compete in the final at The Royal Highlands Show in 2019. The Young Handlers Scheme and The Young Handlers Final are generously sponsored by the James Bennett Fund. TROPHIES - awarded at the annual awards BBQ being held on 14 September 2018. PATRICK - trophy for the Best Brood Mare, suitable for Agricultural purposes, in foal, with foal at foot, or having produced a foal in 2018. JAMES GREGG - trophy for the Champion Clydesdale Foal in the show. BLAIR - trophy for the Champion Clydesdale in the Show (class 28). KERR-SMILEY - trophy for the Best Colt, Gelding or Filly (one, two or 3years old), suitable for Agricultural purposes. ROSS - trophy for the Best Colt, Gelding or Filly, bred in Ireland (one, two or 3 years old), suitable for Agricultural purposes. JAMES McNEILL - trophy for the Male Champion in this section. 6 RIDING PONIES Judged at pitch 6 from 9.30am - Saturday 16th June 2018 Class 30 Open Lead Rein class for Show Hunter/Show Pony, Mare or Gelding, 4 years old over, not exceeding 123cms. To be led by an attendant and shown in a snaffle bridle. Lead rein to be attached to the nose band only with no extra aid or attachment to or on saddle Rider not to have attained their 8th birthday on 1st January, in the current year (a) Ponies must be led by an adult and should be on a loose rein and will be required to trot. (b) The attendant must affix the lead rein to the nose band on which it must remain while the pony is in the ring. (c)the rein must go directly from bit to the rider's hand, with no extra aid or attachment to or on saddle. Class 31 Open First Ridden class for Pony, Mare or Gelding, 4 years old and over, not exceeding 123cms. To be shown in snaffle bridle Rider not to have attained their 10th birthday before 1st January in the current year. (a) No cantering allowed except for individual performances. Ponies must leave the ring at a walk or trot. Class 32 Open 128cm to 148cm class for Ponies, Mare or Gelding, 4 years old and over, (PLEASE SEE BELOW ABOUT RIDER AGE LIMITS)

(a) Not exceeding 128cm, Rider not to have attained their 13th birthday before 1st January in the current year. (b) exceeding 128cms, but not exceeding 138cms. Rider not to have attained their 15th birthday before 1st January, in the current year. (c) exceeding 138cms, but not exceeding 148cms, Rider not to have attained their 17th birthday before 1st January in the current year. Class 33 Novice Riding class for Ponies, Mare or Gelding, 4 years old and over, not exceeding 148 cms, suitable for and to be ridden by child of correct age. Snaffle bridles must be used Class 34 Open 133cms Show Hunter Pony class for Ponies, Mare or Gelding, 4 years old and over, not exceeding 133cms. Riders not to have attained their 14th birthday before 1st January, in the current year Class 35 Open 143cms Show Hunter Pony class for Ponies, Mare or Gelding, 4 years old and over, exceeding 133cms but not exceeding 143cms. Rider not to have attained their 17th birthday before 1st January, in the current year. Class 36 Open 153cms Show Hunter Pony class for Ponies, Mare or Gelding, 4 years old and over, exceeding 143cms but not exceeding 153cms. Rider not to have attained their 20th birthday before 1st January, in the current year. Class 37 Open Intermediate Show Hunter, exceeding 153cm to 158cm, Rider note to have attained their 25th birthday on 1st January in the current year. Class 38 Champion Riding Pony - No Entry required. Champion & Reserve Champion Riding Pony will receive Rosettes but no prize money is issued for this class. First and second prize winners in classes 30-37 will qualify for this championship. TROPHIES - awarded at Annual Awards BBQ being held on 14 September 2018. SECRETARY - trophy for the Best Children's Riding Pony in the Show - Exhibits in Classes 30-33 are eligible for this Cup. Pony to be led by Exhibitor Class 68 Family Pony Lead Rein - any age - any height up to 148cms. Exhibitor to be aged 14 or under at the date of show and must be accompanied by an adult Class 69 Family Pony Ridden - any age - any height up to 148cms. Exhibitor to be aged 8-16 at the date of show CLASS 70 Child Handler - Exhibitor to be aged up to 8 years of age on day of show (no Stallions or Colts) this class will be judges purely on the ability of the handler Handler must wear a Current British Standard Safety Hat. Exhibitor will be required to ride, lead, mount, dismount and will encounter obstacles. An adult may lead the pony if required.

This class will be judged purely on the ability of the Handler Handler must wear a Current British Standard Safety Hat. Exhibitor will be required to ride, lead, mount, dismount and will encounter obstacles. Class 72 Champion Family Pony - No Entry required. Champion & Reserve Champion Family Pony will receive Rosettes but no prize money will be issued for this class. This champion DOES NOT qualify for the Supreme Championship.
