Wheelchair basketball development program is held at Sutherland Basketball Stadium on Thursday nights, except in school holidays. At $8.00 per person you get to experience this fantastic sport and it's lots of fun to play. It s a great team sport that can help build up strength and coordination, learn new ball and chair skills... and of course make new friends along the way There is a place in wheelchair basketball for anyone who wants to give it a go, from players to coaches to referees. Adults and kids as young as 5 and 8 yrs old can enjoy the game with this beginners program helping you learn the basics. Anyone who is able to push a wheelchair, including able bodies, can play wheelchair basketball. The game is fast and energy-driven and is all about tactics - like a game of chess on wheels! For all the juniors, there are opportunities to develop your skills through the training sessions at Sutherland and enjoy great success in wheelchair basketball at a national level. The Australian Men's team, the Rollers are currently ranked no.1 in the world after winning gold at 2008 Paralympics Games in Beijing. They also won the Paralympics World Cup in Manchester in 2009. The Australian Women's team won bronze at 2008 Paralympics Games.

The new Level O Coaches are: Finn McCann Under 14 reps Jacob Corry Under 14 reps Adam Smith Assistant 12 boys reps Taz Govender Assistant 12 boys reps Alex Kesselaar Manager 12 girls reps Liam Luff Wheelchair basketball Kylie Cameron School teacher at Meriden school Strathfield Thanks and good luck on your future in coaching. Impact Basketball Camp During the next school holidays we will be holding a two day basketball clinic with elite coaching from Impact Basketball. This clinic will be held on October 1st and 2nd here at Sutherland stadium. Impact basketball has held several clinics here at our stadium and would be great for 14-18 year olds who want to make a Representative team or are already on a team but want to improve their skill level leading in to next years trials. More information on notice board and next Sharks bite. Awesome Basketball Quotes Here are some basketball quotes by famous players and coaches that I have hand picked as some advice to our members and players here at Sutherland. The thing I love the most about teaching, is that you can connect with and see an individual or a group exceed their limits Mike Krzyzeski Duke Bluedevils What do you as a player do to help us win when you re not scoring baskets? John Calipari Kentucky Wildcats I can t make every decision for you. I don t have 14 timeouts. You guys have to get together and communicate on the floor. Greg Popovich San Antonio Spurs Im looking for activity. I put players in and take them out based on effort and defence, not if they make or miss shots Doc Rivers LA Clippers Over coaching is the worst thing you can do to a player Dean Smith North Carolina University

Page 5 Sharks Page 5 Bite 6/8/2015: U14B2 blue Semi-final (Sharks lost 43 to Blacktown 45) Sharks were confident going into this game as they strive for their 13th straight win. BUT it wasn't meant to be as the Sharks boys led for most of the game, at one stage being up by 9 points, ONLY to see them go down by 2 points in the last minute of the game. Sharks found themselves in foul trouble with our point guard uncharacteristically fouling-out and then Blacktown gained the momentum. Still it was a very close game right to the last dying seconds. It wasn't meant to be for the top of the table Sharks HOWEVER we still have a 2nd chance as we now have an opportunity to get to the Grand Final by beating Hills this coming weekend in the preliminary final. This just might be the 'wake-up' call the boys need, to now be hungrier than ever, and fight for that second spot in the grand final. Watch out Hills you are now in the way of the Sharks path to the grand finals - Bring it!!!! Sharks it's now time to play ball!!! GO SHARKS!!!!' 13/8/2015 U14B2 Sharks Blue vs Hills (Sharks won 61-44) Last week's loss was the game we needed to remind us no one is unbeatable and the team that wants it the most usually wins. As the game started, both teams looked a bit nervous but the early baskets from the Sharks settled the nerves quickly. Our outside shooters came to play this week as we found the back of the net on many occasions. Hills couldn't get their rhythm and our Bigs were 'bull-dozing' their way into the paint, often leading to and AND-1 situation. It was a physical contest at one stage I saw 4 Sharks players with ice-packs on their injured limbs?!?. Regardless the smell of the win had the Sharks circling and continued their tight defence to win in the end by 17 points and book our place in next week's Grand final! Well played Sharks! Win or lose the grand final the boys had a fantastic season! Thanks Coach Obi - Now let's see if we can get that win next week to claim the championship- GO SHARKS! Patrick Feliciano Team Manager Suggestion Box We have placed a suggestion box near the front counter. Anyone who has a new suggestion for our stadium, please feel free to complete one of the forms provided.
