Brian Refreshments Board Meeting Mike Range General Meeting Greenwood Phemester G. Schneider 1 The Dumpster A few years ago we had 4 garbage cans at the pump building. They were adequate for our needs until we had a party. Then there would be 5 or more extra bags that were placed alongside the cans and WM would charge us about $6 for each extra bag. We decided it would be cheaper if we got a dumpster. If we only put garbage and trash into the dumpster it would have to be emptied (at $62 an empty) about once or twice a month. But when it is used as a construction site dumpster things like old barbqs, carpeting, discarded marine toilets, old crab traps, etc., etc., it has to be emptied 4 or more times a month. We could save a lot of money if the dumpster was used for garbage and trash and not as a construction site receptacle.

We only had Payton Westfall one outing this month. It was the Maritime Heritage Festival. There were four daughters at the festival, Helen from PYC, Inna from RYC, Jessica from DYC and Payton, that s me, from MCYC. As it is my second time being DON I took the lead and showed the other daughters how to fit a life jacket to kids and help the parents fit a life jacket to their kids. The booth for the DON s looked right out onto the water and was at the top of the ramp. We were between the booth for Freshwater News and the Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde. They were two of the sponsors. I would like to say a big thank you to the City of St. Helens for letting us be a part of this event. They had all kinds of wooden boats to look at so my papa (aka Father Neptune) and I went down onto the docks. One of the sea scouts asked if I was a daughter of Neptune that had saluted them on opening day. I said yes and he and I talked for a little bit about what he does as a sea scout and what the DON s do. We also talked about school. Then my papa (aka Father Neptune) said it was time to stop flirting and that we needed to get back to the booth. They had water skiers and they even stacked them three high. Boy, was that great to watch. They told us some history of different skies and that the pivot ski was from Lake Oswego and a skier skied on one. I had a blast this month and can t wait to tell you what happens next month. Safe boating everyone and hope to see you at the parade in Gladstone on the 4 th of August. Payton Westfall MCYC 2012 DON YA C H T C LUB TACO PARTY By Donna Clark We want to Thank everyone who came to the TACO FIESTA DINNER Saturday, July 21st. We made a "small" profit for the Club but it's money!! $303.00. There were many club members who helped with the dinner including the one's who showed up to "EAT"! Special mention goes to Patrick and Dave Sutherland for their help in cleaning up the dishes. The HOSTS, Janet and Brian, Sherry and John, Tana and Matt and Larry and Donna ( and special guest appearance by Jean Heuer) worked hard and long to make it something everyone could enjoy. Sometimes it does take A VILLAGE to put a party on! Thank you again everyone for supporting the CLUB we really appreciated it. 2
Nautical Notes Some humor... An elderly Bob Schultheis farmer in Florida had a very nice large pond on his property. One evening he decided to go down to the pond. He had not been there for a while, and wanted to pick some peaches from the trees lining the pond. He grabbed a five gallon bucket and headed out. As he got near he heard voices shouting and laughing with glee. He saw several young women skinnydipping in his pond. He made the women aware of his presence and they all swam to a deep part of the pond. The farmer yelled in their direction, "this is private property. Can't you read the signs?" One of the women shouted back, "We will leave but we are not coming out until YOU leave!" The old man frowned, "I didn't come down here to watch you ladies swim naked or make you get out of the pond naked." Holding the bucket up he said, "I'm just here to feed the alligator." Bob and Terry were out on the channel bright and early one morning. They sat silently as they fished. Each kept very still so as not to frighten off any fish. After three hours, terry shifted his feet. Bob said, "What is it with you? Did you come out here to fish or dance?" Things you won't hear a true fisherman say... "Wow, I've never caught a fish that big!" "Hey! Let's take our wives fishing!" "My truck can't get through that!" "Let's go shopping, fishing can wait." "Dave, those hip boots make your butt look big and they don't match your belt!" "Hey, we don't need to buy those fishing flies Terry, let's send our wives flowers instead?" "I don't think Duct Tape will fix that." "I feel pretty guilty not washing those breakfast dishes before coming out here to fish!" "Hey somebody come land this 20" rainbow for me. I need to straighten up the camp." "I can't participate in National Hunting and Fishing Day cause my neighbor is throwing a Tupperware party and I really need a mixing bowl." "I think electronic fish finders should be banned." "Come on, man we can watch bass fishing anytime! Figure skating's on!!" "We gotta throw this fish back, I don't think it will fit in the frying pan." Multnomah Channel Yacht Club Chaplain's Log August 2012 One of the things that struck me when I first read the bible was how almost everyone in the bible really messed up things. It was kind of a strange revelation because I always thought people in the bible were supposed to be these great sinless people. Wrong. Let me give you some examples and explain why this is so impactful to me. Adam and Eve started mankind and actually talked with God we all know what they did Moses killed a man and then ran away David lusted after Bathsheba and then had her husband killed so he could take her as a wife Solomon after God gave him wisdom and wealth he still took a bunch of wives and started worshipping strange gods Paul actually killed Christians before he was converted (I will write about Paul more in a future log) Peter deserted Jesus in His time of need Jonah ran away from God so he didn t have to preach about Him Yet with all their faults God still loved them. Kind of like us yet what was so obvious about these men? They really loved God even with all their faults and sins they loved God and He knew it. God loves us too and He has a whole lot more patience than we do. He will wait for you to seek Him and when you do he will treat you like the prodigal son (I need to write about this story too). Hope to see you all soon!
