Each of these men are absolute power houses of knowledge when it comes to catching flounder. They each also have powerful histories for being able to catch these fish when others cannot. The panel members will not have any prepared material; they will simply answer our questions. You can direct questions to one individual or to all three. We have told the panel they are not expected to give away any special spots or their special baits. What you learn from this program will be the result of what questions we ask. Be sure to come and bring all of those special questions. Flounder Tournament Schedule for July 18 th The tournament is for members and a friend and will be help July 18 th. Items of Interest ** Coast Guard Launches Boating Safety Mobile App. Are you a boater? If so, you ve probably heard countless tips about how to keep yourself safe while on the water. You also probably have all the necessary safety equipment, such as a marine VHF radio and lifejackets. But, there s one thing you probably don t have: a boating safety mobile application that will allow you to access crucial boating information instantaneously. With the launch of the Coast Guard mobile application, you can have all this information, and more, at your fingertips - See more at: http://coastguard.dodlive.mil/2015/05/coast-guard-launches-boating-safety-mobileapp/#sthash.jusvh3iy.dpuf ** Lynnhaven Pier passes have been donated to TAC by Aberdeen Barn for up to 4 people to fish at no charge, contact Mike Williams at 489-9070 for more info. ** Raffle Prize at July Meeting At the July meeting our raffle prize will be a $50.00 gift certificate to a local restaurant. ** Ten Minute Presentation by a Club Member At our July meeting Mike Sellers will demonstrate his method of throwing a cast net ** VMRC to discuss Speckled Trout in VA Joe Cimino will meet with us to discuss speckled trout concerns at 6:00 PM on July 15 th at the VMRC offices. Please notify anyone that you believe is interested, especially those that appeared before FMAC when speckled trout regulations were discussed. **Scientists expect slightly below average Chesapeake Bay dead zone this summer Scientists are expecting that this year s Chesapeake Bay hypoxic low-oxygen zone, also called the dead zone, will be approximately 1.37 cubic miles about the volume of 2.3 million Olympic-size swimming pools. While still large, this is 10 percent lower than the long-term average as measured since 1950. The anoxic portion of the zone, which contains no oxygen at all, is predicted to be 0.27 cubic miles in early summer, growing to 0.28 cubic miles by late summer. Low river flow and low nutrient loading from the Susquehanna River this spring account for the smaller predicted size. ** Virginia s Offshore Wind Energy Area We are seeking your participation in the upcoming meeting on July 13, from 530-630p at the Virginia Marine Resources Commission Library. This meeting is intended for the Recreational anglers fishing, diving or transiting through the designated Wind Energy Area. Virginia s designated offshore commercial wind energy area is 24 nautical miles off the coast of Virginia Beach.
