Programme Ø The club championships for 2018 will be made up of ten galas as detailed below. Club Champs 1, Wednesday 3 rd October at Eric Liddell Event 1 Girls & Boys 1500m Freestyle (Age 12 years & over) This event will be limited to 24 Swimmers in the event there are more than 24 swimmers, the selection will be based on those that are closest to the county time in each age group as opposed to the fastest 24 swimmers. Club Champs 2, Friday 5 th October at Fairfield Event 1 Girls & Boys 100m Freestyle (All Age Groups) Event 2 Girls & Boys 200m Backstroke (All Age Groups) Club Champs 3, Wednesday 17 th October at Eric Liddell Event 1 Girls & Boys 800m Freestyle (Age 12 years & over ) This event will be limited to 30 Girls in the event there are more than 30 swimmers, the selection will be based on those that are closest to the county time in each age group as opposed to the fastest 30 swimmers. Promoters Conditions Ø This competition is promoted by Dartford District SC which is affiliated to South East Region ASA. It will be run under A.S.A. Law and ASA Technical Rules of swimming and the Promoters conditions. All Galas will be licensed to level 4 by the ASA and times achieved can be used for entry into County events, All galas will be held at Pools with six lanes at a length of 25 metres under manual timing with the exception of gala 7 which will be held at Eltham Leisure Centre using 8 lanes and electronic time keeping. Ø It is the swimmers responsibility to ensure they are registered with the A.S.A. and are a fully paid up member of Dartford District SC. Ø Ages as at 31st December 2018 Ø All events will be swum on a HDW basis and over the top starts will be at the discretion of the Referee. Ø Entries must be submitted on the electronic entry form hosted by Cognito forms by the declared closing date. When submitting your entries payment will need to be made via the form. No entries will be accepted by hand under any circumstances. Each event is priced at 3

Swimmers are required to sign in at the registration desk located on poolside by the stated signing in time. Ø Competitors must report to the clerks of the course in the marshalling area at least two heats before their own. Competitors not reporting in time for an event may be excluded. Competitors for the first two heats of each championship must report to the marshalling area directly after warm up. Ø Competitors must leave the pool by the steps at the sides of the pool and not climb over the electronic pads when in use. Ø Awards will be made in conjunction with the DDSC Club Championship guidelines. Ø Competitors are only allowed on poolside for the session in which they are competing. They must also cover up and wear shoes when leaving the poolside area. It is not permitted to bring glass containers onto poolside. All rubbish must be taken off poolside when leaving. Ø The promoter reserves the right to alter the schedule if circumstances demand.
Ø Any item not covered within these conditions will be at the discretion of the Promoter. Ø Parents/Spectators are allowed on poolside if the championships are at Fairfield but they must stay within the allocated seating area. Ø Diving is not permitted during warm-up except in designated sprint lanes as advised by the warm-up marshals. Ø It is the responsibility of the competitors, coaches and club to ensure all swimmers are competent to the standard of the A.S.A. Competitive Start Award. Competitors may start from the side or in the water. Ø Dartford District Swimming Club will not take any responsibility for lost or stolen articles. Ø Spectators Entry Fee will be 2 per session including programme. Club Championship Rules and Scoring The DDSC Club championships are run throughout each calendar year. They are run under A.S.A Law and A.S.A Technical rules of swimming. Each event is run on a heat declared winner basis and each heat is seeded slowest to fastest using the latest swimming times held for every competitor on the club database at the entry closing date. All club championship dates are to be found on the DDSC website. All swimming members in Bronze, Silver, Gold, Junior Top & Top squads are expected to enter all of the categories listed for their age group subject to ability. Younger swimmers should liaise with their coach if in any doubt. Eligibility All swimmers must be a fully paid member of Dartford District Swimming Club. Secondary club Members of DDSC can enter Club Champs on a time only basis, these will not count towards DDSC Championship points. However, these times can be used if achieved qualification for County Events. Entries must be received including payment prior to the advertised closing date.
Age Groups Qualifying ages are as at 31 st December each year. The age groups for trophies and awards presented at our annual presentation evening are: Boys 9 Years & Under Boys 10 & 11 Years Boys 12 & 13 Years Boys 14 & 15 Years Boys 16 & 17 Years Men s Open Girls 9 Years & under Girls 10 & 11 Years Girls 12 & 13 Years Girls 14 & 15 Years Girls 16 & 17 Years Ladies Open NB: ALL SWIMMERS ARE AUTOMATICALLY ENTERED FOR THE OPEN AGE GROUP. QUALIFYING EVENTS FOR CHAMPIONSHIP POINTS Boys & Girls 9 Years and under 50m Backstroke, Breaststroke, Butterfly & Freestyle 100m Backstroke, Breaststroke, Butterfly & Freestyle & Individual Medley 200m Backstroke, Breaststroke, Butterfly, Freestyle & Individual Medley* NB: There are 14 events in total, and whilst all swimmers will be encouraged to enter all the events, only your best 10 results will be counted towards the overall championship points. *NB: Swimmers are permitted to enter the 200m events, however all entries must be validated by your coach. Boys & Girls 10 & 11 Years 50m Backstroke, Breaststroke, Butterfly & Freestyle 100m Backstroke, Breaststroke, Butterfly, Freestyle & Individual Medley 200m Backstroke, Breaststroke, Butterfly, Freestyle & Individual medley* 400m Freestyle NB: There are 15 events in total, and whilst all swimmers will be encouraged to enter all the events, only your best 10 results will be counted towards the
overall championship points.*nb: Swimmers are permitted to enter the 200m/400m events, however all entries must be validated by your coach. Boys & Girls 12 & 13 Years, 14 &15 Years, 16 & 17 Years. 50m Backstroke, Breaststroke, Butterfly & Freestyle 100m Backstroke, Breaststroke, Butterfly, Freestyle & Individual Medley 200m Backstroke, Breaststroke, Butterfly, Freestyle & Individual medley 400m Freestyle & Individual Medley 800m Freestyle, 1500m Freestyle NB: There are 18 events in total, and whilst all swimmers will be encouraged to enter all the events, only your best 14 results will be counted towards the overall championship points. Boys & Girls Open. 50m Backstroke, Breaststroke, Butterfly & Freestyle 100m Backstroke, Breaststroke, Butterfly, Freestyle & Individual Medley 200m Backstroke, Breaststroke, Butterfly, Freestyle & Individual medley 400m Freestyle & Individual Medley 800m Freestyle, 1500m Freestyle NB: There are 18 events in total, and whilst all swimmers will be encouraged to enter all the events, only your best 14 results will be counted towards the overall championship points. CHAMPIONSHIP POINTS Points are awarded per qualifying event in each age group. Six points are awarded for first place, five points for Second place, four points for third place, three points for fourth place, two points for fifth place and one point for sixth place. All swimmers are automatically entered for the OPEN age group and points are awarded as above irrespective of the swimmers age. The points accumulated throughout the year by each swimmer are added together in order to establish each age group winner, runner up etc.
MEDALS & RIBBONS Medals are awarded to the first three swimmers in every event for swimmers in the first two age groups (9 years & under, 10 & 11Years) with ribbons being presented for swimmers finishing fourth, fifth and sixth place. No Medals are awarded in the other age groups. TROPHIES PRESENTED AT THE ANNUAL PRESENTATION EVENING AGE GROUP AWARDS A club trophy is awarded to each age group winner, including the OPEN age group, with their name suitably engraved on it. These trophies are retained by each winner until the following November when they are returned to the club for engraving and presentation to the next recipient. In addition trophies are awarded to the winner, second, third, fourth, fifth & sixth in each age group for them to keep. INDIVIDUAL STROKE AWARDS A trophy is awarded to the overall fastest boy and girl in each of the four stroke events in both 100 and 200 metre events attained at the club championships irrespective of their age. These trophies are suitably engraved and retained by each winner until the following November when they are returned to the club for engraving and presentation to the next recipient. INDIVIDUAL MEDLEY AWARDS A trophy is awarded to the overall fastest boy and girl in the 100m, 200m & 400m Individual Medley events attained at the club championships irrespective of their age. These trophies are suitably engraved and retained by each winner until the following November when they are returned to the club for engraving and presentation to the next recipient.
LONG DISTANCE FREESTYLE AWARDS A trophy is awarded to the fastest boy and girl in the 400m, 800m & 1500m Freestyle events attained at the club championships irrespective of their age. These trophies are suitably engraved and retained by each winner until the following November when they are returned to the club for engraving and presentation to the next recipient. LYNDA PINKESS AWARDS Trophies are awarded to the boy and girl who have gained the most 4 th to 6 th place finishes during the entire club championships. These trophies were kindly donated by Lynda Pinkess to recognise those swimmers who regularly participate in each club championship but finish just outside the first three. These trophies are suitably engraved and retained by each winner until the following November when they are returned to the club for engraving and presentation to the next recipient.
