Affidavit Travel Little League International has secured travel arrangements for all United States teams participating in the World Series. All International teams will be booked as Regional Champions are determined. Whether arrangements are being made by Little League or not, your Regional Director will provide you with travel arrangement information. It is very difficult in working with the airlines regarding changes to schedules. It might be impossible to change a return flight home earlier than scheduled. Little League will do its best to accommodate teams. However, the airline industry is informing us that if changes are made to a schedule, there will be a per person penalty plus any additional costs as the result of the change. Therefore, it might be necessary to return a Regional Champion to the tournament site and make arrangements to get them to the closest airport serviced by the airlines we are utilizing. Of course, space availability is the key issue. All travel arrangements will be coordinated through the manager. It is then critical that the manager communicate this information to the players, parents or guardians. Each team will submit their tournament affidavit with supporting documents to the Tournament Director at the Coaches Meeting. The supporting documents and a copy of the affidavit will be returned to each team for the tournament. The original affidavit will stay with the Tournament Director for the duration of the World Series. The documents you will be required to provide upon arrival are as follows: Envelope with the residency proof for each player Eligibility affidavit Copies of birth records for each player Eligibility waivers for any player otherwise ineligible Map of the boundaries of your league Any additional waivers concerning the eligibility of your team In addition to the team eligibility information, medical release forms and affidavit, it is highly recommended that World Series teams bring current immunization records with them for each manager, coach, and player in case our medical staff needs them. Big League Baseball World Series, P.O. Box 1976, Easley, SC 29641 4 of 16

Team Host Families Umpires Team Host families play a major role in every player's World Series experience. These dedicated individuals volunteer their time to be ambassadors of good will for Big League Baseball. Each team is assigned one family who will take on various responsibilities, from arranging uniform fittings to helping in the coordination of the media activities involving the teams. These volunteers spend every day of the World Series week with their assigned team providing guidance and assistance to the players, coaches and managers. The Host families also provide a valuable wealth of knowledge to parents and relatives who have traveled to the World Series. The umpires used for the Big League World Series are strictly volunteer umpires. They have been selected from their respective regions and have traveled to Easley at their own expense. They are highly qualified and should be treated with respect. Managers and Coaches Meeting On Tuesday July 24 th, at 2:00pm, there will be a mandatory managers meeting held at SWU. The purpose of the briefing is to provide information on the expectations and policies surrounding the World Series participants. The $500 deposit for all teams will be due at this meeting. The coin tosses for all pool games will also be done at this meeting. General Media Information The media covering the Big League World Series is generally very friendly and courteous. If you feel that any member of the media is overstepping his/her bounds, or not displaying courtesy, please inform a member of the Big League staff at once. Managers and coaches may be asked by a member of the media to divulge "signs" you give to your players. We do not recommend that you divulge this information. Big League Baseball World Series, P.O. Box 1976, Easley, SC 29641 5 of 16

Distribution of Promotional items or other Literature It is Little League policy that no organization, group, company, etc., is permitted to sell or distribute leaflets, placards, posters, promotional material or any other items at the Complex without written permission from Little League Baseball, Incorporated. Media Guidelines-Managers, Coaches and Umpires Many journalists cover the Big League World Series. Participants may speak to journalists. The manager, coach, parent or member of the Big League Media Relations Staff must accompany the participant and the journalist. After a game, we may ask participants to participate in a press conference that will be conducted under the supervision of Big League World Series Personnel. Participants should speak with honesty to journalists. Participants at the World Series should have fun! Team Preparations for the Media Big League personnel will guide each team, in uniform, through a pre- World Series information gathering process that includes: 1. A brief orientation on media procedures at the Big League World Series 2. Team and individual photographs of every player and coach 3. Brief biographical information on every player (e.g. proper spelling of name, uniform number, hitting position and defensive positions) In addition, managers and coaches may be asked to comment briefly on team strength, significant accomplishments and key players to watch. To the extent possible, no media will be allowed to have contact with the teams during any part of this process. The photographs and information gathered will be provided to the media, scoreboard operators, editors, official scorekeepers and ESPN personnel when all the information is compiled. Therefore, IT IS IMPORTANT THAT NO CHANGES- INCLUDING UNIFORM NUMBERS-OCCUR AFTER TEAMS HAVE COMPLETED THEIR TURN THROUGH THIS PROCESS. And it is equally important that teams pay close attention to the spellings of names, uniform numbers and other biographical information while it is being gathered. Big League Baseball World Series, P.O. Box 1976, Easley, SC 29641 6 of 16

Information forms for Major League scouts need to be filled out and submitted. Be prepared to be contacted by media and reporters. An adult should be with any player being interviewed. Microphones Housing Remember that the managers (and possibly a coach or umpire) may have LIVE MICROPHONES on them, and ANYTHING they say during the game may be heard on national television. (Please note: It is not mandatory that a manager or coach wear a microphone.) Microphones will also be in the bases and elsewhere. Cameras are in place throughout the stadium, and may be focused on you or a player, at any time, anywhere, including the dugout. It is important that ALL people involved in every game know this. We fully expect that everyone involved will conduct themselves properly, and with grace. Little League International always receive telephone calls after the TV games in which the public either praises or chastises the people involved because of their actions on camera. How you act and what you say during these games will reflect on the public's perception of the community and nation you are representing. We hope all the World Series games win praise. All player participants, managers, coaches and umpires will be housed at Southern Wesleyan University Dormitories. Responsibilities of the Manager and Coaches Each Team's Manager and Coaches are responsible for their own team. SWU is equipped with air-conditioned dormitories, a recreation hall, an infirmary and a dining hall. These facilities are to be treated with respect. If there are any difficulties regarding the facilities, please notify your team host family and they will contact housekeeping. When traveling to and from the fields for practices and games as well as meals, a manager or coach must accompany the entire team. Should a manager or coach need to leave SWU or their team, always insure the team is properly represented and supervised. The curfew of all teams is MIDNIGHT. If your team is playing a late game, the curfew may be extended until the team is showered. Big League Baseball World Series, P.O. Box 1976, Easley, SC 29641 7 of 16

Security The behavior of all teams must be above reproach. Please be advised that unruly behavior will not be tolerated. If such behavior exists, the Tournament Committee does have the authority to release teams and individuals from the tournament. The World Series goal is to provide a safe atmosphere for both participants and spectators. Each participant, (players, managers and coaches) will be required to wear identification badges at all times with the exception of games. The badges will be provided at Check-in. Meal Schedule/Dining Hall Breakfast and lunch will be provided at SWU Stewart Bennett Hall Cafeteria. Should any team elect not to eat a meal in the dining hall, the manager must notify the dining hall at least 2 hours prior to the meal. This notification will help the kitchen staff manage the food preparations more efficiently. Evening meals are provided and prepared by volunteers. Teams are expected to attend all evening meals. In the rare event that a team will not participate in the evening meal, notification must be given to the volunteers 24 hours in advance. Your host family can help in these special cases. Laundry Procedures Uniforms will be laundered at the end of every day. The team will collect all uniforms into bag(s) and deliver them to the reception area of Stuart Bennett Hall before 12 midnight. Big League Baseball World Series, P.O. Box 1976, Easley, SC 29641 8 of 16

No family members, etc. Weather Conditions Lineups Dugouts Summer thunderstorms are common during this time of year. We are experienced in observing them and dealing with the condition. We will not put anyone in jeopardy during lightning storms. If we have rainouts, we will play double headers to catch up. A Media Relations Department staff member will pick up lineups from the manager before each game-usually 1 hour before game time, or the previous night for those involved in games scheduled for early the next day. The lineup given to the staff member will not become official until just before the game when the Plate Umpire receives his/her copy from the manager, so changes can be made until that time. The dugouts are for player participants on the affidavit as well as the rostered manager and coaches. League officials or any other individuals who may have association with the team are not permitted in the dugout at any time. The home team will occupy the first-base dugout and the visiting team will occupy the third-base dugout. Big League Baseball World Series, P.O. Box 1976, Easley, SC 29641 10 of 16

When the ball is live, all player participants, manager and coaches must be behind the screened area in the dugout. In between innings, only the first batter of the inning may stand outside the dugout in the playing field prior to batting. The dugout steps are out of play. A defensive player may not stand on the steps and make a legal catch. He/she may stand on painted surface and make a catch, but not on the step. Managers and coaches must remain inside their respective team's dugout. The managers and coaches will not be allowed on the steps at any time during the game. We will allow the manager/coach to put one foot on a step and lean into the steps but at no time will the manager or coach be allowed to stand on the steps or sit on the steps. Managers should ensure that the players are not in the step area but behind the screens of the dugout. Pre-Game Warm-ups Equipment: The participating teams will arrive to the Complex approximately 75 minutes prior to the first pitch. The visiting team will have 10 minutes of infield practice first, followed by the home team for 10 minutes of infield practice. The remaining time will be utilized for infield prep, introductions and first pitch ceremonies if applicable. This may be adjusted should games run late or other scheduling conflicts occur. All equipment shall conform to Little League Baseball rules and regulations Initial Equipment checks will be performed during the Manager's Meeting. Equipment checks will be performed by umpires prior to each and every game. Specific attention will be directed towards bats, and both catcher's and batting helmets. All helmets must have the NOCSAE stamp and be free of cracks or other defects. Catcher's helmet cannot be of the "skull cap" type and must have a dangling throat guard. Big League Baseball World Series, P.O. Box 1976, Easley, SC 29641 11 of 16

Team Introductions Teams will line up on the first-base and third-base lines for team introductions. The visiting team will be introduced first followed by the home team. PLEASE NOTE: This may be deleted from pre-game ceremonies if deemed necessary. A game director will be at each game to answer any questions. Trainer-Sports Medicine Each team will have access to licensed sports trainers for any injuries or treatments that may be needed. The trainers will be at the Complex during all games. Pitchers may receive ice wraps at the completion of their rotations. Tournament Playing Rules: (See Rule Book) a) Substitutions: Report to chief umpire as a courtesy make sure opposing team gets your changes. Tournament staff will be available to assist in reporting changes. b) Conduct: Conduct of teams participating in tournament play on or off the field must be such so as to not bring discredit to Little League Baseball. Improper behavior may result in the disqualification of manager, coach, players or team! JB "Red" Owens Complex Rules Ground rules will be discussed with umpires at pre-game meeting at home plate Only the first batter of each offensive half-inning is allowed to be out of the dugout warming up. Scorekeeper will be behind home plate on the first-base side. Give substitutions to him by quoting the players' numbers. Example: Playing left field now is #33 replacing #15. Or now batting is #44 replacing #10. Substitutions will not be accepted before the time the substitute will actually be used. A player not in the game should have a helmet on and should be getting the bats after an at-bat. The managers and coaches should not be coming out to get the bats. After the Series Because the Big League World Series is a public event covered by many media outlets, it is possible that someone may attempt to contact the local league administration, manager, coach or even a player after the teams return home. It is important that the players, managers and coaches return to normal activities as soon as possible. Please be assured that Little League International does not release contact information on any player under any circumstances to the media, or any other entity outside Little League International. If a member of the media wishes to speak to someone at the local league level, it is Little League policy to provide contact information for the media to the league administration, manager or coach, and have those persons make the contact with the media if they wish. It is important that the parents of the players on your team understand this. If the player receives unwanted or unsolicited contact from a person identifying himself/herself as a member of the media, it should be reported to the Little League International at once.
