To the Class of 2019 Hello Senior Parents! What an exciting year we have ahead of us! I am the Class of 2019 Sponsor and I'm looking forward to helping your kids have a fantastic, memorable senior year! We have many activities and traditions for your students this year, and of course we'll be trying to raise funds for the BEST Senior Prom in Clear Brook history! More information about this will come soon. I've attached the Class of 2019 Spirit Shirt order form. Please encourage your student to purchase a shirt to show unity and spirit as a class. The completed form and payment can be brought into the AP offices for Ms. Garza. We're trying to get the shirts in by Homecoming Week, 9/17-9/22. We'll be placing our first order early next week. I've also included the Senior Class Activities for 2018-2019. Please feel free to contact myself or my secretary, Ms. Garza, with any questions or additional needs. If you would like to volunteer with any of the activities, please let me know. We would love for you to be a part of your child's senior memories! I will be communicating through Skylert emails, PTSA Bylines, as well as on the "Senior" tab on the CBHS website. I have also created a "Class of 2019" Course in It's Learning to share important information. I want to make sure that everyone knows ALL of the awesome things happening at Clear Brook! Thank you for your support of your student and Clear Brook High School! I know that we'll have an amazing year! We ARE Clear Brook!! Jennifer Carlisle Assistant Principal Clear Brook High School

Clear Brook Debate Team This weekend the Wolverine Debate team started their season by heading out to the Foster/George Ranch Swing tournament held at Foster High School in Richmond. Over the course of the two day tournament, team president Adarsh Suresh fought his way through to the semi-final round where he faced off against Strake Jesuit College Preparatory in LD Debate. This was Adarsh's seventh round in the two day period and although he downed at this level, he walked away with a 3rd place win and six of his needed 12 points for the state tournament to be held later next year. He also advanced to the semi-final round of Domestic Extemporaneous Speaking which garnered him two points toward that goal as well. Accompanying Adarsh by getting onto the points board for the year were his fellow team members Prateesh Vijayakumar and Sarvesh Subramanian who advanced to Double-Octa Finals on Saturday earning one state point each for LD Debate. Fellow teammate Rishi Bengani fought his way to the semi-final round of Foreign Extemporaneous Speaking where he earned one of his needed 12 points for the year. The team moves on to Dawson High School this coming weekend, followed by Elkins High School the following weekend as they continue their points accumulation on their way to the TFA State Tournament in March! The Brook Wolverine Debate team was out for the second weekend in a row September 8 th to continue their quest toward TFA State as they attended Dawson High School s individual qualifying tournament. Over the course of an arduous 18 hours of competition, the team came home with results that set the tone for a great year ahead! The LD contingent of the team, comprised of nine team members at this meet, managed to break seven debaters through to the top 16 at the meet after three hours of competition: team president Adarsh Suresh, vice president Ben Eappen, historians Prateesh Vijayakumar and Sarvesh Subramanian, varsity members Alwin Varghese and Rishi Bengani as well as first year member and freshman, Michael French! After battling it out for four more rounds which lasted until midnight, Brook closed out the top three positions with Ben Eappen taking 1 st, Sarvesh Subramanian taking 2 nd and Adarsh Suresh taking 3 rd! This win by Adarsh Suresh makes him the first team member to qualify for the TFA State Meet to be held in March of next year. Other exceptionally notable finishes for the team included a 1 st place win by Sarvesh Subramanian in Domestic Extemp Speaking as well as the 2 nd and 3 rd place finishes in Foreign Extemp Speaking by Rishi Bengani and Bennett Davies respectively. Sarvesh also managed his third award of the evening by placing 1 st overall speaker in LD Debate. Second year team member Maryam Babar ventured out into a new event for the team this year, Informative Speaking and wowed all of her judges by placing 1 st multiple times and finally finishing 2 nd place overall in her finals round! With all of these top finishes, the team now has their first state qualification with the rest of theses well on their way, including at least four of these in close striking distance who could gain their qualifications in the next few weekends! The team heads out to Elkins High School this coming weekend, followed by Clear Falls High School the weekend of Brook s homecoming before taking their first weekend off for the year Pictured, left to right (back): Adarsh Suresh, Ian Allen, Sarvesh Subramanian, Alwin Varghese and Noah Kim Pictured, left to right (front): Bennett Davies, Benjamin Eappen, Michael French, Bella Durondeau, Maryam Babar, Prateesh Vijayakumar, Nathan Lee and Rishi Bengani
