We have an opportunity to reach and exceed an important record for our team. Last year wrestling won The Day of
Giving within the Department of Athletics! I wrote and told you that I thought we had the lead and it turns out I was right!! Our statistics of participation last year were the best in the four-year history of The Day of Giving. Wrestling had 79 unique donations totaling almost six thousand dollars. A unique donation means that each person/donor can only be counted once. We ask that if you plan to donate, spread the contribution out among separate family members. We had multiple donors give one thousand dollars. I think any donation is incredibly generous and speaks to the support we have as a team. However, the more you can give the more you will help our athletes. This year we are raising our goal and looking to get 100 donors! Last year the donations helped us seek out tough competition and go on extra overnight trips which are a necessity for early tournament weigh-ins. We want to continue to do this with our athletes; it s vital to get the best competition while still allowing them proper rest and resources. As The Day of Giving continues we will post updates on our social media pages to let you know where we stand. We all need to rally in order to WIN the DAY! In addition, to The Day of Giving we also kick off our competitive season this weekend at the King's University Ned McGinley Invitational Tournament. The team is lead by Nationally Ranked Dan Kilroy (#6) at 174 pounds. We have solid competitors at every weight and can bring home a team trophy if everyone wrestles to their ability. Keep an eye out for Dan Ortega (125 lbs) Jake Giordano (133 lbs), Robert Dinger (141 lbs), Anthony Rua (141 lbs), Ryan Budzek (149 lbs), Anthony Gagliano (149 lbs), Nicko Cofone (165 lbs), Thomas Anderson (174 lbs), Dan Surich (184 lbs), and Thomas Marretta (HWT).
