Jazz Curriculum for Opals (O) Classes- Average age 5-8 Build and introduce Endurance, Strength, Flexibility, Coordination, Self-Esteem, Performance Quality and Memory in Jazz dance style. Introduction and be able to do the following: Isolations- Head (neck), shoulders, ribs, back, hips, knees, arms, wrist, ankles, feet Stretches- cambres (front, sides & back), flat back, lunges, butterfly, pike, straddle, right and left splits, back (twist), feet (point, flex & circles), calves, arms (triceps, bicep, deltoids, pecs), hips, lower back Strength- abdominal & back exercises, push-ups, arm positions/resistance, inner thighs, calves & ankles, quadriceps, hamstrings and buttocks Coordination- move two isolations at one time, and intro to different qualities of movement and styles of jazz Moves/Steps-(all intro moves & positions of ballet to be used for the execution of the following movement, along with some in parallel or straight (verses all turned out and curved in ballet)) Jazz Walks Jazz Runs Step Dig Step Together Step Dig Pivots Pas De Bouree Jazz Square- Box Step Battements (Kicks)- front, side and back intro to fan kicks (en dehor) 3-step turn Intro to triplettes- Balance' Chaine' Pique turn intro Intro to pirouettes- need a clean single Soutenu Turns Hops, Jumps & Skips Drags Broadway Kick, Ball Change Grapevine Chasse'- front and side Intro to Grand Jete'- split leap Intro to Russian- Toe touch jump Hinge to floor
