We have had more spring-like rather than winter weather lately, so we will just have to wait and see how the prediction holds up! The 5th six weeks begins Monday, February 13th, which means we are more than half way through the school year. Encourage students to work on finishing the year strong. The PISD Board of Trustees and I would like to thank all the hardworking staff for your dedication to our students each and every day throughout the school year. In appreciation, the district will provide a donut treat at each campus next week. We hope you enjoy! DONUT DAY FOR PISD STAFF APPRECIATION Tuesday, February 14th WECC, Northside, & Southside Wednesday, February 15th Story, PJHS, & PHS Happy Valentine s Day!

P a ge 2 Wildcat Weekly V olume 5: I ss u e 16 Go Wildcats Athletic Director: Robby Clark Palestine Athletics Basketball The Freshman Ladycats won their game against Fairfield 40-36 to finish off the year strong and register in a winning season. The JV Ladycats lost their game 44-20. This team has shown adaptability all year. The Varsity Ladycats lost 42-46. Disappointing but the team played well. Bi-District Playoff Game: I'm excited the Ladycats have earned a spot in the playoffs. The Ladycats will play the Gatesville Lady Hornets on Monday, February 13 th in the Bi-District round of playoffs. Tip off will be at 8:00 pm at Groesbeck High School. We will be the second game of a double-header. The first game, Madisonville and Lorena, will start at 6:00 pm. Adult Tickets: $5.00 Student Tickets: $3.00 Junior High Ladycats: 7A and 7B teams were runner up in their district. 7A went 11-5 on season and 5-3 in district. 8B finished in third with a winning record, and 8A finished right at.500. We are excited and feel our program has reached significant growth over the last 12 months without a doubt. Thank you for supporting the Ladycats! Coach Ross Softball The Varsity Softball Team hosted a 3 way scrimmage between Palestine, Neches, and Tyler Lee on Monday, February 6th. The girls did awesome!!! All three pitchers Kara Richmond, Jenna Rogers, and Cierra Shook, did great in the circle. Infiniti Morrow had two great catches in center field. Mayra Sepulveda had a great game from right field. She had a throw to home that kept a runner from scoring and allowed Jessilyn Jenkins and Kazem Wood to pick off the runner between 3rd and home. At short stop Jenna Rogers had a great diving stop and put out at first base. Jessilynn Jenkins had 2 pick offs at third with Kazem Wood. Hannah Richmond and Lillian Defore both had solid performances at first base. As for Hits Amirah Wyse had a triple, double and single. Fazaria Edwards had 3 singles. Jenna Rogers made it to 3rd on a great bunt. Kara Richmond, Cierra shook, Alex Castillo and Kazem Wood all had hard hit singles up the middle and down the third base line. Everyone played a positive role in both games. We kept mistakes to a minimum and played smart aggressive softball! Way to go girls and keep it up! The JV Team scrimmaged Elkhart on Monday, February 6th. Kiowa Gross had an AWESOME squeeze bunt to score Esther Jeffus. Great hits came from Allison Sanchez, Victoria Mata, Kelly Ruiz, Esther Jeffus. Great job girls. Keep up the good work! The JVB Team scrimmaged Lindale on Tuesday, February 7th. Roxanne Ruiz had a double down the right field line. Janet Rivas had a great play at short stop. The girls did a great job and will continue to get better every day! Coach Kym Chapa
