Introduction Chicago Sinfonietta is a professional orchestra dedicated to modeling and promoting diversity, inclusion, and both racial and cultural equity in the arts through the universal language of symphonic music. In this, our 30th season, we are celebrating our distinction as the most diverse orchestra in the nation, the magic of the unexpected collaborations for which we ve become know, and the joy of sharing transformative concert experiences with your neighbors. Our 2018 Ball will be the culmination of this year-long anniversary celebration. Each year Chicago Sinfonietta hosts over 550 guests from some of Chicago s top corporations and private stakeholders to raise much needed critical support for the Sinfonietta s innovative concert season and expansive education outreach programs. 2018 Ball Global Masquerade Each year, Chicago Sinfonietta s Ball is a nod to the past season and a sneak peak at the season to come. We traditionally use a masked Ball to celebrate milestone anniversary years. This year, we celebrate mask traditions from around the world. From Chinese New Year to Brazilian Carnival, Festima in West Africa to Día de los Muertos in Mexico, masks have been an important part of human culture and celebration for centuries. Join us as we thrill, delight, surprise, and pull out all the stops to celebrate the end of our 30th anniversary and raise much needed funds for the nation s most diverse orchestra. Chicago Sinfonietta s Paddle Auction raises much needed funds for its education outreach programs. Each year, we feature an education performance at the Ball by the young musicians benefiting from these programs.
