Lower School Updates September 20, 2018 New Information CCS Fall Festival Sponsored by Lower School PTO: The Lower School PTO is excited to be hosting the CCS Fall Festival again this year. Join us on Saturday, October 13, 11:00 AM - 2:00 PM for a day of fun and fellow ship including games, inflatables, face painting, a petting zoo, and much more! Be on the lookout for an email from your Room Parent on how you can help make this event a success! Wristbands will be on sale beginning next week (be sure to check your Tuesday Folder for more details!). Pre-Sale Bands are $10 per child, and cost at the door is $13. This helps us to cover the festival expenses and includes unlimited access to all activities (except food). Parent Cell Phone Use on Campus: Last year, parents were given information about new laws prohibiting the use of cell phones in school zones. Mr. Mansell has asked that we please communicate with everyone as we are continuing to see parents on cell phones during our morning drop-off and dismissals. Please know that this can be dangerous, and we ask that you please stay off of your phones while driving on and off of campus. This is a safety issue, and we need your help! Thank you. Tardies: School starts at 8:00 AM (9:00 on Wednesdays). Students should be in class at that time, not in the carpool lane. We have been lenient on tardies so far this year, but we need to begin following the 8:00 start time. Starting Monday, September 24, any students not in their classroom at 8:00 AM will be counted as tardy. We will still monitor traffic coming to school and adjust tardies as needed. Thank you for your cooperation. Lifetouch Portraits: Individual Portrait Packages were sent home on Tuesday. If you would like to purchase the entire package, the cost is $35. You can pay with check (made out to Lifetouch), or you can pay online at mylifetouch.com. A price list can be found inside the package with prices for individual sheets. Any unwanted prints should be returned to the Lower School Office. Please return payments or unwanted prints by Friday, October 5. If you want your child to have their portrait re-taken on October 11, please send an email to your child s teacher and also Kellie Tanner to let them know. Only students with email permission from parents will be sent for a re-take. If your child was absent on our original picture day, we will automatically send them for a re-take on October 11. This will also be our

picture day for Mrs. Turner s 3-day Pre-K class. Please email Kellie Tanner ( ktanner@ccsk12.com ) with any questions. Inside your portrait package, you will find a complimentary SmileSafe Card from Lifetouch. This is yours to keep, even if you return the package. Fire Prevention Poster Contest: Directions were sent home in Tuesday Folders for all K-5 students interested in submitting a poster for the Fire Department s Fire Prevention Contest. All posters must be submitted to the Lower School Office by October 23. Cheer Camp Performance at High School Football Game: Girls who attended Cheer Camp this summer are invited to return to cheer at the High School home game on Friday, September 28. Kick off is at 7:00 PM. Camp Cheerleaders should meet the High School Cheerleaders at the High School Gym at 7:05. They will practice their cheers and routine during the first quarter and then cheer during the second quarter. They will cheer in front of the parent section of the bleachers. They will then perform at halftime with the High School Cheerleaders. Parents will pick them up by the field gate when the performance is over. Girls should wear their CCS Camp Shirt, comfortable shorts, tennis shoes, and their favorite bow. Child s Size C heerleading Uniform: If you re interested in ordering a child s size cheerleading uniform, please email Cara Kellogg at spiritshop@ccsk12.com. Reminders Morning Drop-off: Students who arrive between 7:30 and 7:55 must go straight to the Lower School Salter Gym. Parents are welcome to wait in the gym with their student, but we ask that you not wait in the LS Lobby or outside classroom doors. 4th and 5th graders should not visit their lockers before heading to the gym. Thank you for your help with this. Lower School Clubs: Lower School clubs begin this week! There are still spots available in several of the sections. Please click on this link to view the clubs being offered and to make a selection for your student: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/4090f48a4a62ca6fd0-after3. Any questions are welcome and can be sent to Shonda Caines at scaines@ccsk12.com. Lower School Lunch Times

We always begin our time by focusing on who God is and thanking Him for the things He has

done for us. He uses this time to transform our thoughts and perspective, bringing us to a place where we are ready to ask for the things we want and need. Together we learn to stand on God s promises and believe His Word, because no matter what we re facing, there is One who does not change. There are two MIP meeting options for CCS Moms this year: Mondays, 8:20-9:30 AM - Middle School Conference Room 1st and 3rd Fridays of the month (beginning Friday, Sept. 7),12:00-1:00 PM - Location TBD (tentatively in the MS Conference Room) If you d like more information about Moms in Prayer, visit momsinprayer.org, or contact Patti Walker at cpwalker@comcast.net or Stacie Siira at staciesiira@hotmail.com. For more information on the Friday group, contact Nicole May at nicolermay@gmail.com. Middle Grades Robotics (4th-8th): All 4th-8th graders are invited to join the CCS LEGO Robotics Team which competes in the local First LEGO League tournament. In the fall semester students build and program LEGO Mindstorms EV3 robots and do a project on the year's topic (this year is Into Orbit). We meet on Mondays and Wednesdays from 3:30 to 5:00 in the new STEAM room! The first meeting for Lower School students was Monday, August 27. All interested 4th-8th grade boys and girls are welcome. Spirit Shop: The Spirit Shop will be open from 3:00 to 6:00 PM on Tuesdays and Thursdays. We are also open during home football games and other events. The Shop is located back by the High School Gym and David Stanton Field. Refer Families and Received Volunteer Hours! You are CCS s best advertisement. Email admissions@ccsk12.com, or call the main office (423.265.6411). **School Dismissal Manager**:
