The Government of Senegal has implemented a new policy for fisheries co-management with all stakeholders to: regenerate the resource rent, decently remunerate all actors cover food security needs more contribution to the national economy
The National Advisory Council for Marine Fisheries (CNPM). It provides planning, development of fisheries and marine culture (management plans for fisheries resource management, organization of processing and marketing). The Artisanal Fishing Local Councils (CLPA). The CLPA, as consultative bodies, contribute to local fisheries governance, sustainable exploitation of fisheries resources and development of marine fisheries sector.

Weak of consultation and participation mechanisms of stakeholders; Excess of fishing capacity and overexploitation of key fisheries stocks; Weakness in monitoring, control and surveillance maritime fishing; Weak of control of post harvest activities of artisanal fishing.
