Commander Welcome Legionnaires' to October. My how September flew by so fast. It is a very busy month at the post; we have Octoberfest 2-3, Booya the 10th, along with a craft show and football games every weekend. Come in and cheer your team on with the rest of the post fans. We are updating the post by repainting. It is looking so nice and fresh inside. Dues has been raised by $5.00; this will take effect in January, so you want to pay your membership before January to save and be paid for the year 2016. Our volunteers are great; the Wednesday crew has been very busy. We are getting ready for our Spring 3rd District Conference in May. If anyone would like to help them just come in at 0900; they will let you know where they need help the most; lunch will be provided. Please contact Terry Larson at 651-464- 2600. Please watch out for the kids when they are out trick or treating at the end of the month. We will be having a Halloween party at the post too, so get dressed up and come on out and have some fun with other big kids!! Robin Kunkel, Commander Auxiliary At the September meeting two of the girls who attended Girls State joined us. The girls talked about events they participated in during their week at Girls State. They enjoyed their experience and will encourage other girls to apply for an opportunity to attend next year. An American Flag, flown over the U.S. Capitol, was presented to each girl. September s bake sale was a success. Thank you to all who donated baked items. Additional bake sales will take place on the third Sunday of each month. Please contact Lorry Houle at 651-464-8583 if you are able to drop off cookies, bars, pies, etc. Also, continue working on craft items for the annual Shop Till You Drop sale held on Saturday, December 5. Annual membership dues are being accepted now. Auxiliary members birth-17 years old are $5, 18-61 years old are $25, and 62 years and older are $20. I encourage you to renew your membership and find a couple more people to join! We can sure use more help, join us as we help serve Veterans and their families through our planned activities. We would love to see more of you at our meetings. Join us at 7 p.m. on the third Monday of each month. Kathy Dunaway, Auxiliary President Junior Auxiliary Members, Do you know that daughters, granddaughters, great-granddaughters, and sisters of all men and women who were in the Armed Forces of the United States during specific wartime periods, and are members of the American Legion, are eligible for membership in the American Legion Auxiliary! Do you know of any girls interested in learning about Americanism, patriotism, citizenship, and loyalty to America? A membership is as close as the Forest Lake American Legion Post 225. Eligible girls 17 years and under may join the Junior Auxiliary. (Note: Those 18 and older may join the Auxiliary.) Junior Auxiliary meetings held the first Tuesday of each month at 6 p.m. Amy Dunaway, Junior Activities Chairmen Legion Riders Hello Legion Riders, I hope you have been out riding and enjoying your bike as much as you can. Our meeting is on October 7th; I hope we have as many members as possible. Our breakfast last month was a great success! I hope to see you at the post Booya; it will be very nummy. The Wednesday rides are done for this year. If we have some nice weather lets get those bikes out before it gets too cold. There is a ride Ride for the Wreaths on Oct 17th. 2nd Brigade is putting it on. It starts at Lino Lakes and ends at the post. I will get more information out on it. Stay Warm and Ride Safe!
