Oil injected into the pump chamber for sealing, lubrication and cooling is recycled from the oil reservoir and filtered prior to injection. The lubricant system is rated for continuous operation at high intake pressure so the pump may be used in a versatile manner in most rough vacuum applications. This pump has been customized for Oxford Instruments and is ideally suited for He 3 recirculation in dilution refrigerators as the magnetic coupling provides the highest level of reliability against a costly He 3 leak, even when the pump is unused for an extended period. The electromagnetically operated valve provided permits the opening and closing of the calibrated leak to be controlled by the leak detector s software.
