Fixtures continued Ladies Football Junior A 13-a-side Championship Valley Rovers B V Knocknagree Sat 6/10/18 @ 6.00pm in Cullen U18C Camogie Championship Valley Rovers V Bishopstown Sat 06/10/18 @ 1.30pm in Brinny SE Junior A Football Championship Final Valley Rovers V Ballymartle Sat 13/10/18 @ 5:00pm in Ballygarvan SE Junior A Hurling Championship Final The Junior hurlers were unfortunately denied the three in a row when they contested the South East final against Courceys on Sunday morning last in Belgooly. It was a one point loss in the cruelest of fashions where a draw would have seemed a fair result given the game ebbed & flowed for both teams over the hour. The Rovers played with the wind in the opening half but some wayward shooting had them just a point up at the interval, 0-7 points to Courceys 0-6. With the wind picking up in the second half, Courceys pushed on & went into a two point lead before Darragh Looney converted two frees & Adam Settini fired over to put the Rovers one up with 3 minutes remaining. Courceys responded with two more to take the lead & while the Rovers had a chance to draw the game, it was not to be & the game finished on a final scoreline of Valley Rovers 0-13, to Courcey Rovers 0-14. Team: Eoin Burke, Shane O Leary, Tim Cummins, Don Lynch, Ian Crowley, Michael O Brien, Gary Deane, Darragh Lordan, Bill Hawkes, Joe Crowley, Darragh Looney, Mark O Leary, Aaron Lyons, Misko Savic, Adam Settini. Subs: Pa Hurley for Misko Savic, Dan Sweetnam for Mark O Leary & Stephen Lordan for Bill Hawkes. Scores: Darragh Looney (0-8 (7 F & 1 65)), Joe Crowley (0-2), Aaron Lyons, Bill Hawkes & Adam Settini (0-1 Ea). U13 Hurling & Football The past week saw our C3's in Rebel Og league football action. They welcomed Ballincollig to Brinny Sunday afternoon in the last C3 league game of the season. Ballincollig started strong and got some early goals, even though Valleys preformed strong in patches of the game they found it difficult to stop the Ballincollig forwards and Ballincollig went on to take a win. Donal Cremin Hurling Tournament Valley Rovers U-13 s got a late invite to participate in the Donal Cremin Hurling tournament hosted by St Finbarr s on Saturday last. Valleys accepted the invite and entered a team. With a cup and plate a total of 8 teams were entered. Page 2 of 10

Valleys were grouped with St Finbarr s, Na Piarsaigh & Carrigaline in 12 minute a side group games. Valleys won their 3 group games which took them into a semi final V Aghada. With very little separating these two sides it was valleys who did enough to take a place in the final V Midleton. Valleys started strong in the 15 minute a side Final and with the lads playing some excellent hurling and keeping composure at important times during the game it was enough for Valleys to take a great victory in the final. On hand to present the Cup on behalf the Cremin Family was local man Tom Cremin, he was very pleased to be presenting it to Valley Rovers & Captain Conor Desmond. Thank you to all who supported the lads on the day, and to Eddie McGrath & Eamon McCarthy who umpired for Valleys games. Thanks to St Finbarr s who ran an Excellent tournament and looked after everyone so well. Page 3 of 10

U10 Hurling Valley Rovers U10 hurlers travelled to Bishopstown last Saturday morning where two Rovers teams took on the host club. Both teams acquitted themselves excellently winning both games but more importantly they played really well in both games, displaying great commitment and skill. It s great to see their skill level coming along and to see them grow in confidence with every game. Next up for the under 10s is a football blitz next Saturday before they head to Thurles for a Munster Hurling blitz the following Saturday which promises to be a great occasion. Below is a picture of the U10 hurlers that played against Bishopstown. Well done to all involved and remember to keep practicing at home. Please note a Special General Meeting will be held in the parish hall on Thursday 4th October @ 8.30pm to discuss a sports capital grant for installing lights at the proposed pitch 3 development in Brinny and to discuss bank borrowings for same proposed development. Club members are asked to attend. Valley Rovers had three winners in the Club incentive draw which is part of the overall Cork GAA Clubs Draw.
