Dordt College Dance Team Tryout Packet 2017-2018 ON CAMPUS AUDITIONS Saturday, April 15, 2017 Dordt College Rec Center Aerobics Room 9:00am-3:00pm Audition Schedule: 8:45-9:00am Check in and Registration (Pre-Registration is required)
9:00-11:30pm Group warm-up and stretches, across the floor combinations, and learn a short tryout routine. 11:30-12:30pm Lunch break/free time to work on tryout material 12:30-1:00pm -- Sizing for new Uniforms 1:00-2:00pm Review/finish learning tryout routine 2:00-3:00pm Perform tryout routine in groups of 2 or 3 for the panel of judges as well as your own prepared routine. Skills/requirements that you will be asked to demonstrate during your try-outs include: Splits Right, Left, and Center Leaps Right, Left, and Center Double Pirouette Double Coupe Turn Chaine Calypso Leap Toe Touch Tilt/Pitch Jump Any additional skills you may want to showcase (triple pirouette, a la seconde turns, tumbling skills, head springs, kips, etc.) Dancers will be learning a short choreographed routine at the audition. We also ask that all dancers bring a self-choreographed routine (approximately 30 seconds to a minute in length) of their own to perform during the audition. Dancers are encouraged to showcase strengths in the choreographed routine. All solo music should be brought to the tryouts via CD or ipod/iphone. In addition to being scored on the routines and the skills listed above, you will be observed throughout the auditions on your attitude, ability to learn, enthusiasm, projection, and overall performance. We will be looking for your ability and potential to become a collegiate dancer. ATTIRE: It is recommended that you wear black dance pants or shorts, a tight fitting tee or tank (preferably black as well), and jazz shoes. Your hair should be back and out of your face and you should refrain from any jewelry during tryouts. Make-up should be done to look game-day ready, as if you were to be performing to an audience that day. Minimum Academic Requirements at Dordt: - Fully accepted to Dordt College by tryout date, April 15, 2017. - Possess and maintain a minimum 2.0 cumulative GPA. - Earn a minimum 2.0 semester GPA in 12 or more graded hours. Requirements by the NAIA: A student needs to meet 2 of the 3 following requirements to be eligible. - Achieve a minimum of 18 on the ACT or 860 on the SAT - Achieve a minimum overall high school GPA of 2.0 or higher - Graduate in the top half of your class in high school Please mail the following registration materials by April 12 to:
