The size, members, and divisions of all competition teams will be determined by the dance team advisor/coach. C. ESPERANZA DANCE TEAM CODE OF CONDUCT By accepting the privilege/honor of being a member of the Esperanza Dance Team, the member accepts the fact that they must uphold a higher standard of conduct than those not associated with such an activity. 1. The uniform and clothes that represent this organization must be respected at all times and are not to be loaned out. 2. Proper appearance is required at all times, with clothing appropriate to the occasion as stated by the Esperanza High School Dress Code. 3. As a member of the dance team, no member shall be guilty of attracting undesirable attention to herself, the team, the school or community (i.e. using foul language, fighting, cheating, using drugs or alcohol, smoking, etc.). 4. Excessive public displays of affection are never considered appropriate, especially in uniform or while representing the school. 5. Each member is expected to be on time as specified by the director, for all dance team functions. 6. Each member is expected to give her full cooperation to the director and coaches, those designated as officers of the team, and to all members of the team at all times. If there is a question of authority, it is to be handled in the proper manner by making an appointment with the director to clear the matter up. 7. Each member shall participate in ALL DANCE TEAM ACTIVITIES & FUNCTIONS, unless otherwise cleared with the director in advance (preferably three weeks). 8. Missing a scheduled rehearsal the week of a performance, may result in suspension from the performance. Suspension is dependent on the absence being excused or non-excused and the impact it has on the performing group. 9. Any unexcused absence from a performance is grounds for suspension and/or dismissal. 10. Tutoring appointments and doctor appointments are NOT to be made during scheduled practice times! 11. Missing an added-on rehearsal at which major routine changes are made, may result in performance suspension for that particular event if it is too close to the performance. 12. Members must dress in appropriate practice clothing during all rehearsals. 13. Members are not to leave rehearsals early, and in the spirit of this; the director will try her utmost to end rehearsals at the scheduled time. 14. Because all situations may not be foreseen and thus outlined here, each will be dealt with in a manner decided upon by the director, with the assistance of the department head and/or administration as is deemed necessary. 15. Inappropriate behaviors not only reflect on the individual, but can also affect the image of the entire team and the school. Therefore, decisions will be made based on the good of the school first, the team second, ad the individual third. 16. All members are not only expected to uphold the letter of the code of conduct, but also the spirit of it. Be a positive and productive member of your Dance team.
