BEDROCK-NEWS THE OFFICICIAL QUARTERLY PUBLICATION OF THE BEDROCK PROSPECTORS CLUB MAY THRU SEPTEMBER 2013 MONTHLY MEETING PLACE PUYALLUP MASONIC HALL HELD ON THE THIRD MONDAY OF EVERY MONTH 1005 West Pioneer Ave. 7:30 pm 9:30 pm At Christmas, we promised you an exciting year to come. But I will just bet you thought, well nothing like this. From the amazing Christmas party and all those wonderful prizes, to all those little beach outings and then the Monroe Gold Show, then to the Puyallup Gold Show and the cashmere Gold show and all those great prizes given out and all that money raised for PLP and Resource Coalition. Let s not forget the Cabela s outings and those huge nuggets we re giving away. Just where did we get them that size? I don t think we re going to forget the Spring Fling for a long time to come. Who said it snowed anyway. I saw hail for a while and mean wind and rain, but SNOW? Well let s just say it was that cold. But all that just withered away at the sight of seeing that gold flowing thru all those cubes on the beach. And the smiling faces. Everywhere you looked happy prospectors. Then the night treasure hunts and all our kids running around with those flash lights, to the amazing prizes given out for the hunts and the raffles. I know I wanted the metal detector. Maybe next year. Ya see folks, this is the kind of a club we have. We are made up of some of the greatest people I have had the privilege to meet. It s not just a club, it s more like an extended family so to speak. The longer you are in the club and get involved with all the club has to offer, then you will see what I mean. So come on out and be part of this great organization, have some fun and you never know where or when you ll meet your next best friend.

OUR SPRING OUTING AT THE BEACH The spring fling was another Bedrock Prospectors success. With over 170 people in attendance and 83 people enjoying the pot luck, yes indeed a real success. Fri and Sat. we had a few dozen groups on the beach, all digging their hearts out and all finding some nice gold. There were very few, if any frowning faces. All seemed to be very happy seeing gold run thru their equipment. The treasure Hunt for both the kids and adults went off without a hitch even though the rain started back up again just as the adults got under way. We gave a car load of prizes away soon after the hunts were over with the list containing a beautiful metal detector donated by White s Electronics and a Gold Cube, donated by Mike Pung and Steve Wilcox., and just tons of other nice prizes. After speaking with the State Park Staff this week, we were told that it was a pleasure to have us stay at the park. They especially had fun watching the adults scurry around in the dark for coins and tokens in the rain. Our club donation to the Parks was very well received and they look forward to seeing us in Sept. Yes it was a real nice time, and I would like to say thanks to all of you who worked so very hard to put this event on. THE MONROE AND CASHMERE GOLD SHOWS Both the Monroe and the Cashmere Gold shows were a roaring success this year with over 25 some odd membership renewals and new sign ups.the Announcing of our 2013 Bedrock Treasure Hunt started at the Monroe show and many folks jumped to get in early. Not to be out done, for its size the Cashmere show added a bunch of sign ups and bringing closer together our Monroe and Wenatchee members with the rest of the club.

BEDROCK 2013 PROSPECTORS ANNUAL RENDEVOUS & SWAP MEET Place: 2001 West Pioneer Ave. Puyallup, Washington Time: 9:am till 6:pm ( set up at 8am ) Date: June 8 th, 2013 (rain or shine ) It s that time again folks. Time to get all that unwanted stuff out of the garage and basement and start polishing it up to sell. Our annual Rendezvous/swap meet is just around the corner. If last year s event was any indication of how this year will be, you might just want to get your space reserved early because we were packed, both with sellers and buyers. This is a very special event where you get to sell whatever you want and get a chance to get in on some really great buys at the same time. You never know just what someone is willing to get rid of anymore We received a lot of street traffic last year, so consider this..it just doesn t have to be prospecting stuff to bring to sell. Bring anything you want to get rid of, this is after all a SWAP MEET/FLEA FAIR! Yes we will be again holding another big metal detector hunt on the back lawn with prizes given away for both events. So please bring the whole family. Our Jr. Event was a blast to see last year. Hot dogs and Burgers anyone? Yep!, that s right. We re having one of our Huge Pot Luck Lunches too. The club always supplies the burgers, dogs and soda, so we ask our members to bring a side dish. Last year s lunch was a blast, with so much good food, if you went home hungry, well shame on you. Now you don t need to make a reservation to sell, but it s kind of nice to know in advance how many sellers will be there, so if you can, give Richard a call and let him know you are interested and we all hope to see you there

MORE ON THE RENDEZVOUS This year s rendezvous will have a special added bonus. We will be holding a special club raffle, meaning for members only. We will be raffling off a Fisher Gold Bug Metal Detector and a Trommel by California Sluice Co. A White s pin pointer and a sluice box.. So some folks are going to walk away that day with some great prizes. The Treasure hunt will start as usual for the kids around 1 pm. Followed by the adult hunt. So bring your machines with you. Just as last year, Mr. Bill Willette will be raffling off a gold nugget for the club and I saw the size of that bugger. It s twice as big as the one won last year. MEMORIAL DAY OUTING AT BLEWETT CLAIMS May 24 th, 25 th,26 th and 27 th is our special week end at Blewett. Just as last year, we expect lots of members to attend. The bridge should be finished by then, but just in case, watch the web site and face book for the latest information with the construction. Be sure you have your HPA s with you when you come and watch the weather, it s always a crap shoot up on the mountain. BLEWETT CLAIMS CLEAN UP WEEK END CANCELLED! Yep!. The week end of May 11 th and 12 th that was planned for our annual Clean Up of our claims has been cancelled due to the bridge won t quite be finished yet. We are planning to do a bit of cleaning memorial week end. May 25th.

THE PUYALLUP GOLD SHOW This was our week end to shine my friends and we did! You couldn t walk anywhere in the great hall without seeing Bedrock hats or logos. We were everywhere. Our booth was just packed all week end. We got to meet many members we haven t seen in a while and got to meet many folks wanting to join our great club and there were a bunch of them. I think the total renewals and new sign ups were just over 40 or so. Not too bad. Thanks to everyone who worked to make this week end a huge success. BEDROCK PROSPECTORS 2013 TREASURE HUNT Starting Saturday, June 8th at our Rendezvous right after the adult treasure hunt we will be starting off a very special Contest of sorts. This contest will be for a period of 5 months and you will be competing against each and every other Bedrock member registered in the contest. The Hunt Where You Want and When You Want To WIN! It s a metal detector hunt where anyone with any level of detecting skills can win and win BIG! This is a member s only hunt and the costs to get in are 25 dollars for adults and 10 dollars for juniors under 17 years of age. We will be giving away no less than 8 very nice Metal detectors and tons of other great prizes. We have posted the rules and regulations on the web site for additional information for you to see as well as on face book This hunt was formed to perform one very special function. That s to get more of our members together and for each of us to get better acquainted with each other in a more personal atmosphere. You will understand this much easier when you read the contest packet. We promised you an exciting year and just think, we re just getting started! We re calling it our Bedrock Prospectors 2013 Treasure Hunt.

NEWS FLASH! Bedrock Prospectors are announcing that we are bringing back the buddy list. Want to go prospecting? Want to go metal detecting? Don t have a buddy to go out with or maybe you just don t know where to go. Well we are going to change things abit. From now on, we will have a sheet set out at our meetings and you will be able to just sign up with your name, the town where you live and your phone number. We will be making calls thru out the season to those on the list inviting them to maybe spend an afternoon detecting or a Saturday out prospecting. If this is something you might be interested in, come to a meeting and sign up. Now maybe you can t make a meeting, well then call either Richard( our President ) or myself and give us the ok, and we will put your name on the list for you. A DAY WITH THE KIDS Friday the 19 th of April we had the privilege to spend the day with the of the Idlewild Elementary School. We never know who has more fun, us or the kids. They always look forward to Getting to pan for gold and get their hands all wet. It was a lot of fun and I would like to say to those who got to go and support the club in this event and other events like this Thank you OUR GENERAL MEETINGS Now we all are aware of our general meetings are held on the third Monday of each month except December. Usually starting around 7:30 pm. and of course the gabbing session about the hour before. Our meetings are for getting to know just what our club is all about. Our calendar of events, what s going on in the prospecting world, who s doing what and maybe too well? No just kidding. My point is, that it s a friendly lay back, relaxing evening with a lot of laughs and a few rare moments of serious education thrown in. If you re a new member and want to get involved with the club and meet some really great folks, come on out. Spend an hour or so, have a coffee and a piece of cake or doughnut and just say hello.
