Environmental Learning Center INSPIRING US ALL TO BE ACTIVE STEWARDS OF THE INDIAN RIVER LAGOON AND OUR OWN WELL-BEING Your support of Golfin' for the Lagoon helps us create education programs and collaborations that engage our community in stewardship of the Indian River Lagoon and safeguarding it as a legacy for future generations. With your support we can carry out change-making programs that empower all to be healthier and happier environmental stewards by: Developing education programs with large-scale residential communities to change landscape practices that affect the Lagoon. Creating nature enrichment programs for elderly citizens who are often forgotten in their need for contact with nature. Holding public lectures and learning series for adults and families on current environmental issues impacting them and ways to engage in nature together. Creating workforce development programs for high school and college interns many of whom are from low-income families. Partnering with elementary and middle school students and teachers during the school year and summers focused on increasing knowledge and interest in environmental issues across a wide variety of disciplines. Developing tactile nature programs for pre-kindergarten child care centers in instilling an appreciation of nature at a very young age. Working with community leaders and policymakers in understanding, communicating and acting on the environmental data our area scientific experts are collecting on the Lagoon and surrounding region.
