PUBLIC SWIMMING The indoor pool will open to the public starting in October 2007. REQUIREMENT - Must be able to stand up in water depth shallow end 3 ft Rate: Residents $1 (under 18 years of age) $2 18 & older $1 Senior Citizen 50 and up Rate: Non-Residents $2 (under 18 years of age) $3 18 & older $2 Senior Citizen 50 and up Time - Tuesday & 7pm-9pm Saturday 1-4pm until March, 2008 POOL RENTALS The City of Forest Park Indoor Pool is a great way to celebrate birthday parties, family reunions. Fees are determined by the number of individuals in the party. $30/per hour + $1/per person. The pool will be available for rental on Friday evenings 5pm-9pm or Saturdays 4pm-8pm. WATER AEROBICS Registration - Every month Cost - $25/residents - $35/nonresidents Class Dates - Oct. 1, Nov. 5, Dec. 3, 2007, Jan. 7, Feb. 4, 2008 Time - 6pm-7pm When - Monday & Wednesday evenings Location - Indoor Pool - Rec. Bldg. This class is versatile offering a challenge to the beginner and senior exerciser. Held in chest-deep water, it involves stretching and aerobic exercise. For more information call 404-363-2908. POOL RULES Swim at your own risk!!! The City of Forest Park is not responsible for accident, incident, injury, or lost articles. No Running, Pushing, Dunking or Rough Play Allowed. No Food, Beverage or Gum in Pool Area. Swim Suits Required: No Cut-offs, T-Shirts, or Street Clothes. No Diapered Children Allowed in Pool Must Be Toilet Trained. Nothing Made of Glass Allowed in Pool or Pool Areas. No Flotation Devices, Masks, Fins, Snorkels, Noodles or Balls. No Rain Checks. No Smoking or Tobacco Use. Obey Lifeguards. 12 & Under Must be Accompanied by Individual 16 years of age or Older. Parents Are Responsible for Children in the Pool. No Profanity or Abusive Language Allowed. Everyone Entering Pool Must Pay. You must shower before entering pool. Individuals with cuts, sores or communicable disease will not be allowed in the pool. All participants must pass a swimming test before being allowed in the deep end of the pool. Swim test is required each visit to the pool. Non swimmers will only be allowed in areas of the pool that they are able to stand with feet touching the bottom of the pool with chest above the water. No spitting, spouting of water, urinating, or blowing nose in pool. No sitting or standing on steps, ladders or lifeline. Unattended solo bathing is prohibited. No swimming allowed when thunder and lightning can be seen or heard. Forest Park Staff has the Right and Responsibility to Eject/Suspend Anyone from the Pool and/or Facility for Misconduct. No Loitering. WATER EXERCISE This class meets on Monday and Wednesday 12pm-1pm, and 1pm-2pm; and Fridays 12pm-1pm at the indoor pool. Fee: $15 monthly for two days; $23 monthly for three days. Class will start October 1 st. Class will meet monthly. Fall/Winter Saturday Swim Lessons The City of Forest Park Recreation & Leisure Services will be offering swimming lessons this fall/winter 2007. The lessons will take place in the indoor pool on Saturdays. The lessons are for ages 3 years and up. In the preschool class a parent is required to get in the water with the child. Registration will start on September 10, 2007 until classes are filled. The fee is $30 for residents of Forest Park and $40 for non-residents. A parent or legal guardian must sign the registration form prior to the child participating in the swim lessons. Preschool Water Orientation (Ages: 3 years 5 years old) 1 st Session October 6, 2007 through November 10, 2007 2 nd Session January 12, 2008 through February 16, 2008 3 rd Session February 23, 2008 through March 29, 2008 This half hour class is a water adjustment for the child to learn to prevent swallowing water by blowing bubbles, to kick while wearing floatation devices, to reach and use arms. Based on the child s readiness, other skills can be taught such as: submersion, floating on their backs, climbing out at the side of the pool, and, jumping in from the side. The above skills are taught through play and games, such as, riding on a raft, pretending to be on a boat, passing game, and London Bridge. Since this class is only an introduction, with emphasis on safety, it may be repeated continuously until age six. At that time the child may enter the Red Cross Learn-to-Swim Program. Instructor Janice Wayte Beginners Swim Program (Ages 6 years and Up) 1 st Session October 6, 2007 through November 10, 2007 2 nd Session January 12, 2008 through February 16, 2008 3 rd Session February 23, 2008 through March 29, 2008 This Learn-To-Swim Program is based on the American Red Cross guidelines, with an emphasis on safety. Each one-hour class is divided into four or five groups based on age, ability and motivation. Students learn at their level, performing tasks when they are ready, both physically and psychologically. The levels are as follows: Level I ~ Introduction to Water Skills Level II ~ Fundamental Aquatic Skills Level III ~ Stroke Development Level IV ~ Stroke Improvement Level V ~ Stroke Refinement Level VI ~ Swimming & Skill Proficiency 29
Each progression incorporates the skills from the previous level. It may take several sessions at the same level for an individual to learn all the skills. See program policy for refund policy.
