GoPack.com Twitter...@NCStateBaseball Trending Recently... The Pack s last two starters (Ethan Ogburn and Brad Stone) have taken no-hitters into the seventh. Ogburn had a perfect game broken up by the first batter of the seventh at Charlotte on April 16. Stone had a nohitter broken up by the first batter of the seventh at Boston College on April 14. NC State has trailed in seven-straight ACC games, but has comeback to win all seven. The Pack s five-run comeback on Friday at Boston College was its largest since March 15, 2011 vs. Buffalo. Game Overman Chris Overman s gone 16 innings without allowing an earned run in, bringing his current streak to 17 innings dating back to 2012. Overman has surrendered just two earned over his last 23 2/3 innings (0.76 ERA) stretching back to April 25, 2012. Overman is chasing down an 18 2/3 inning scoreless streak he had snapped in 2012. Afterburner Turner Trea Turner should smash the NC State career stolen base record after swiping 57 bags on 61 attempts a year ago. He s 15-for-18 this season. Turner needs one more stolen base to equal the career mark of 73 set by Tom Sergio from 1994-97. Turner owns a share of the ACC single-game record (5), but came up just short of the conference s season record (63 by Brian Roberts in 1998). In 2012, Turner stole more bases than 158 TEAMS. His total would have placed him 133rd on the team stolen base rankings. Turner is 34-for-51 (66%) this season on scoring if he reaches base with less than two outs. Jake the Ripper Jake Fincher has reached base in 37 of 39 games this season, and sits 19-for-35 (.543) when leading off an inning. Johnny Bullpen NC State s bullpen has 19 of the Pack s 29 wins, and has won seven of State s last nine. The Wolfpack pen has inherited 131 runners, allowing 43 to score (33%). State relievers have entered with the bases loaded 16 times and held their opponents without a run on seven of those occasions. Opponents are batting.206 against Wolfpack relievers. PRESEASON ALL-AMERICANS Publication Rodon Turner Baseball America 1st team 1st team Perfect Game 1st team 1st team Louisville Slugger 1st team 1st team NCBWA 1st team 2nd team Bullpen vs. Bullpen Even though NC State relievers have pitched 54 1/3 innings more than their opposition, the Wolfpack bullpen is winning the battle of the pens, allowing 73 runs (57 ER) to 102 runs (79 ER) surrendered by opponents. State relievers have 197 IP compared to 142.2 for the opposition. In the 33 games played since Feb. 27, the Wolfpack s starter has gone longer than the opponents starter seven times.

Ranked for a Year NC State joined the national rankings on March 12, 2012, and was ranked in every major poll released until March 25,. On April 2 at East Carolina, NC State hitters had no strikeouts for the first time since March 17, 2006. In the same game, Wolfpack pitchers did not issue a walk for the second time this season. Brett Millions, Overnight Celebrity NC State s Brett Williams became a YouTube sensation by making a tremendous diving grab against New Mexico State on February 27. The play was featured on Good Morning America, Pardon The Interruption, CNN, Deadspin, Buzzfeed, and Yahoo! Sports. It landed at #2 on SportsCenter s top plays of the night, and #4 for top plays of February. Williams climbed as high as the second slot on YouTube s featured videos, behind only the Miami Heat s Harlem Shake. On PTI s Toss-Up segment, Michael Wilbon said: This is a big time catch... Some things are fake hustle, not this one... That catch is spectacular. Duck Call In a tradition started by the late John Ward, you ll hear a duck call played over the loud speakers at Doak Field at Dail Park when NC State baseball has ducks on the pond. Turner led the team in the following categories prior to his injury: Batting average, slugging, on base percentage, runs scored, hits, RBIs, home runs, total bases, sac flies, stolen bases, two-out RBIs, and games with more than one hit.
