Beginners Process Learn To Play (LTP) Lee Valley Lions Junior Ice Hockey Club has a comprehensive training process to ensure that all players are competent on the ice before they begin to compete in matches. Training takes place two evenings per week (Tues and Friday 7.15 8.15) across three transitional levels. Training is broken down into 8 week terms and at the end of each term the Head coach will assess if their skating is good enough to move onto the next level. To qualify to be able to progress to the next level the student must have minimum 80% attendance and be present for the assessment which is on the last Tuesday of each term. At the end of each level the student will receive a certificate of achievement. Once each student reaches level 3, if the coach decides they are ready (each student will be judged on their own ability) they will be invited to also train alongside the correct team of their age group. Timings All LTP players MUST be on the bench to begin training by 7.15 LATEST. Equipment All beginners need to purchase their own neck guards / boxes and water bottles with a long spout. The balance of their kit can be borrowed from the club for the duration of the 1 st beginners group. The kit will be allocated and held at the club in a numbered kit bag. In the unlikely event of NON-Attendance for 3 weeks without contact from yourselves, your child s kit will be redistributed. Equipment is arranged on the last Friday of each term ready for the next term. Please ensure you organise their kit prior to the start of a new term. After this time, it is expected that you would your own kit. We would advise though that you buy your own skates and helmets from the very beginning, although some may be available. Once you decide to buy your own child s kit, this can either be bought brand new (suppliers listed on page 6) or the club sells some selected kit second hand (please ask at the kit room for what stocks are available). Stick Workshops We plan on holding stick workshops after training once a term to help with the purchase of a correct stick (size/style) and on how to wrap your own stick. Costs the first week is free, after which the training cost is 90 per 8 week term. Documentation from week two of being on the ice for training we will need the following forms completed: A B C D Membership form Medical Consent Form General Agreement Photography and Filming consent form Page 2

General Information Prices and Payments We accept payment by; Bacs Cheque made payable to Lee Valley Lions Junior Ice Hockey Club Standing Order (this is the only accepted method for monthly subscription fees) Bank account details for the club are as follows for setting up standing orders or making direct bank transfers: Bank: HSBC Account Name: LVJIHC Account: 51144405 Sort Code: 40-06-27 Lee Valley Lion Club Fees The club fees are used to pay for general administrative costs associated with running the Lee Valley Lions Junior Ice Hockey Club. All of the club staff, which includes the committee, coaches and managers, are all volunteers. However, there are some costs which cannot be avoided. The two most expensive costs that the club incurs are ice time (we have to rent the ice on an hourly basis for all training sessions and games) and officials (we have to pay for professional qualified referees / game officials for all games). The club runs as a not for profit organisation. We set our monthly fees as low as possible; some other clubs charge considerably more than us. Club fees are 720 / year, whilst this can be paid in full we recommend payments are made monthly at 60 for 12 months. A 5 /month discount is applied for each additional sibling if you have more than one family member enrolled in the club concurrently. Payment needs to be by standing order. LTP All Ages - 90 / 8 week term Team Player U9/U11/U13/U15/U18-60 / month (paid on the 1 st of each month) Due to EIHA guidelines we cannot transfer/register players with arrears on their accounts. If you require any further information regarding this, or your account, please contact the treasurer. English Ice Hockey Association Fees (EIHA) Annual registration with the EIHA is mandatory for all players once they are training with the teams. This covers official registration into the EIHA (allowing you to play matches) and insurance. LTP U9 U11-U18 - no cost - 30 / year - 60 / year These forms need to be completed at the end of each season (June/July) and submitted to the registrations secretary with payment so that they can be processed in readiness for the beginning of the following season. Page 3

General Information Training Times All players MUST be on the bench, kitted and ready to start, at the beginning of each session. Monday U9 / U11 / U13 Goalie U15 / U18 6.45 8.00 Fm 7.30 8.00 9.15 Tuesday Beginners - LTP 7.15-8.15 Wednesday U9 / U11 / U13 U15 / U18 7.45 9.00 9.00 10.15 Friday Beginners - LTP 7.15-8.15 Players may be invited to train up with a higher age group if agreed with the coach of both players standard age group and higher age group. Training up does not necessarily mean the player will be able to play up. Those who do not train up will not be eligible to play up. Players must attend training on a regular basis for their age group to be eligible to play games. LTP players may be invited to train up with their age group once they are felt to be ready. This will mean that they will need to pay their registration fee to ensure that they are insured. Games All games for the season are listed on the fixtures live site. (www.fixtureslive.com) Home Games All players need to be present at the rink 1 hour before game time and fully kitted up to get onto the ice 30 mins before. A charge of 5 is required from each player to cover the costs of the ice time for these games. Away Games Around half of the games we play each season will be away matches. Players must attend away matches to qualify to play home games so please do everything possible to ensure you can play. If you have transport difficulties, please speak to your team manager who will put out a request to other players to see if a lift can be provided. It is very disappointing and frustrating for everyone when players and parents give up their day to travel to an away fixture, only to find out that not enough players turn up and the match has to be forfeited! All players should travel in their club hoodies. Parent / Guardian Involvement Lee Valley Lions Junior Ice Hockey Club is run entirely by volunteers and the majority of these are parents or guardians of the children in the club. It is a requirement at home games for the home team to help out with the following game day tasks: Clock ) Game Sheet ) in house training will be provided Shots on Goal x 2 ) Sin Bin Monitor ) Announcing/Music Selling raffle tickets (also supplying raffle prizes where possible) Please consider helping out where you can and speak to your team manager if you are interested. Page 4

Equipment Please ensure that you are clear on the club requirements before purchasing any equipment as the equipment is expensive and we do not want you buying something that is not suitable. Listed below is the minimum kit required in order to train or play matches. This kit is mandatory for all players. For all training sessions and all matches, players will not be permitted onto the ice unless they are wearing a full ice hockey uniform including all protective equipment. Players are responsible for ensuring that they bring their entire kit with them for all training sessions and matches, as well as packing it away after. We do hold some spare kit for training sessions, but in instances where this is not the case, the player will not be allowed on the ice for safety and insurance reasons. Please note that the kit required for a net minder / goalie is considerably different, and it is recommended that you speak to a club official to discuss what is needed for this position prior to making any purchases. Different players prefer to wear different clothing underneath their kit. Some wear light fitted sports clothing, some wear skins, some wear pyjamas or some wear very little! Wear whatever is comfortable.
