Dear Prospective Rouse Royal Dance Team Members, Rhythm Dance Company Members, and Parents, Attached are the necessary instructions and forms to be completed in order to tryout for the Royal Dance Team and Rhythm Dance Company. As a parent of a prospective Royal or RDC member, you should be fully informed about the requirements in becoming a dance team member. You and your child must also realize the year-long commitment and dedication required of all students once they have decided to participate in a dance program at Rouse High School. Being a dance member is not only an outstanding achievement and great honor; it is also a tremendous commitment and responsibility that must be taken seriously. Royals and RDC are a year-round commitment for your child to be involved. The Royals and RDC will be participating in many events throughout the entire school year such as football half times, pep rallies, basketball games, spring sports games, competitions, Spring Revue and various community events. Because of the year-long commitment, the decision to participate on the dance team should be well thought out and discussed between you and your child. If your child is selected for the Rouse Royal Team or the Rhythm Dance Company, he/she must abide by strict rules and regulations. The handbook is devised for the protection of the entire organization; therefore, each candidate and parent is asked to read and discuss it carefully and to keep it in a safe place for future reference. This will be the document upon which decisions are made, so please become familiar with the expectations of each member. Please go to the following link to view, read and print the handbook. https://sites.google.com/leanderisd.org/rouse-dance-department/rouse-dance-teams Thank you for your cooperation, Amy McKee Director, Rouse Royals and Rhythm Dance Company

RHS Dance Department Dance I-IV The Rouse High School dance department is open to all students, regardless of previous training. We offer 4 years of dance training: Dance I-IV. Students earn both fine art credit and P.E. credit with the completion of Dance I and can earn fine art or elective credit in Dance II-IV. Dance classes cover a variety of dance styles including ballet, jazz, modern, lyrical, contemporary and hip hop along with a variety of health, wellness, and fitness concepts. All dance students have the opportunity to perform during halftime at a varsity football game, halftime of a basketball game, and the Rouse Royal Spring Show. Dance Team Prep Dance Team Prep is a semester long course offered to those students who wish to audition for the Rouse Royals or the Rhythm Dance Company in December. Dance Team Prep offers a more rigorous dance technique course to help prepare the student for auditions. No experience is necessary, but it is strongly encouraged. Students in dance team prep earn both fine art credit and P.E. credit with the completion of dance team prep. Dance Team prep students have an opportunity to perform during halftime at a varsity football game. Dance team prep becomes the Royal Rookie class in the spring. Rhythm Dance Company Rhythm Dance Company is an extracurricular dance and spirit organization at Rouse High School that focuses on integrating a variety of dance styles with technical guard skills during the fall semester and focuses on dance team style choreography during the spring semester. Rhythm Dance Company is an extension of the Raider Marching Band program and performs alongside the band during the halftime show during the fall season. RDC members will focus on precision and unison movement while gaining a more well-rounded dance education as they incorporate the arts into their everyday lives. RDC will focus on competition style routines during the spring semester along with performing in the annual Spring Show. Auditions for RDC are held in December. 8 th graders attending RHS are eligible to audition for RDC but will not officially start team activities until May. Students in RDC receive a fine art credit and a P.E. credit.
