Welcome and apologies Meeting opened 9:10am welcomed everyone to the meeting. Apologies as noted above. 2. Minutes from last meeting No matters arising from minutes of the last meeting. Minutes moved: Wagga Wagga Minutes seconded: AFL Riverina 3. Riverina Regional State League reiterated the Regional State League was coming up on the 31 with team nominations closing on the 8. Netball NSW is pleased to have GrainCorp this year as a major sponsor for the competition. The outlined that with a week to close, no team nominations had been received.

Wagga Wagga outlined that the competition is more suited in the representative season. A general discussion took place around where Associations were at in arranging teams for this event. Most Associations were struggling to find players to field a team. asked if changing the date of the event would assist with player availability. Associations did not know, therefore the date was left as the 31 July with a decision to be made after the closing date. AFL Riverina suggested holding the State League on a Friday evening, early in the year, as weekends seem to be an issue with a clash of commitments. A general discussion around this suggestion took place. Associations saw it as a positive with details needing to be organised at the regional planning meeting. When setting venues and times it would need to be taken into account that there would be a minimum 2 hours of travel for some Associations. Wagga Wagga was decided as the most central location and suitable to host Regional State League. 4. Regional Academy update updated the Associations on the 2011 Southern Sports Academy netball program: Senior Squad (16-18 yrs) A total of 18 athletes in the program this year with most Associations having athletes participate in the program. 15yrs Program Trials for the 15yrs program are coming up on the 24 July 2011 with nominations currently open. Copies of the player nominations were handed out at the meeting. explained the Academies 15yrs program and pathway. Each Academy holds selection trial after State Age for players turned or turning 15 in that year. Players selected attend 6 hours of training with the Academies Attend the 15yrs Development Weekend; players are viewed by Netball NSW selectors. 40 athletes are selected to attend the Talent Athlete Program camp After which players are encouraged to trial for the NSW State Teams and Senior Academy programs. 5. Netball NSW Update advised Sydney will be hosting the 2015 Netball World Championships. The NSW Government and Netball NSW announced funding of $27 million. The funding will be utilised to build Decision to be made on the Regional State League event by Netball NSW Regional State League to be an agenda item at the planning meeting 11

a Centre of Excellence for netball based in Olympic Park. The Netball Centre of Excellence will entail: Six new state-of-the-art timber sprung floor courts, An elite netball show court with retractable seating for 850 spectators, Headquarters for Netball NSW and merchandise shop, Multi-purpose meeting/function room for up to 150 people, Gymnasium and sports science facilities, physiotherapy and recovery centre and player change rooms NSW Netball Hall of Fame outlined some recent changes to the Game Development Department. A new and exciting position of in the area of community development has been appointed with Roz Fraser expressing an interest to work in this area. Roz Fraser will take on the role as Community, Player and Coach Development Coordinator. The position of Game Development Manger has been filled by Nicole Horton commencing in this position three weeks ago. Current structure and employees within Game Development Department is: Game Development Manager Nicole Horton Game Development Administrator Amy Quirk Community, Player and Coach Development Coordinator Roz Fraser Umpire Education Officer Jan Simpson San Remo Net Set Go! Coordinator Rebecca Bulley Riverina/South coast Nicole Breust Far North Coast/North coast/ Hunter Rachelle Brazier West-central West/Northern Inland Erin Chillingworth (commencing on the 5 July). 6. Intermediate Coaching Course updated Associations on the process and requirements for the Intermediate Coaching Course. Intermediate General Principles completed through the NSW Communities, Department of Sport and Recreation. Some of the representatives have already started the General Principles and discussed meeting to assist with completing the workbooks. The advised that if they required any assistance she would be happy to help. General principles course must be completed prior to attendance at the netball specific course.

Netball specific course is 7 hours in duration, consisting of both theory and practical components with a 30 minute individual practical assessment component. A netball specific course was scheduled to be held in the Riverina on 28. There is a board meeting/strategic forum scheduled on this day and to give coaches more time to complete the general principles a new date to host the course is required. The 29-30 of October was seen as a suitable weekend for the region. to confirm with Head Office if these dates would be suitable for presenters. Wagga Wagga asked the Associations present what they were doing in relation to having coaches accredited. AFL Riverina outlined they had 15 coaches at the Foundation course hosted earlier in the year and will be making a requirement that all coaches have a coaching accreditation in 2012. A general discussion took place around Associations requesting all coaches to be accredited. It was requested Netball NSW look into making it compulsory for all junior and senior coaches to hold a coaching accreditation. AFL Riverina asked about the Goal Posts with the Net Set Go! packs and that it should be mandatory for each centre to be sent the 8 foot goal posts. Tumut requested feedback on the Netta requirement of having to change positions every quarter. A general discussion around what other Associations do took place. A break for morning tea occurred at 10:10am with the meeting recommencing at 10:25am 7. Member Protection Policy (MPP) reiterated the importance of the MPP and for Associations/Clubs to formally adopt the policy into their Constitutions. Hume advised that most of their clubs do not have access to the internet and only one folder of the MPP was sent. Hume requested to have 13 copies of the MPP burnt to discs. The importance of a MPIO position being within Associations/Clubs was discussed. The Regional Coordinator advised that Netball NSW could look at hosting a MPIO information session for the region in 2012 to confirm with Head Office and inform region of outcome to speak with Net Set Go coordinator and advice of the outcome. to burn 13 copies of the MPP to discs for Hume MPIO course to be discussed at regional planning meeting

Upcoming events and reminders advised of the following upcoming events within the Riverina: Development Coaching Course 24 July hosted by Wagga Umpire Development Visit 30-31 July, held in conjunction with Regional State League. A email with details will be sent out on Monday advising of Netball NSW upcoming events: Level II Umpires Course - 7 Connect Coaching 31 Coach Smart 15 October, held before the Australian Diamonds test match on 16 October 9. Riverina Regional Meetings for 2011 A Board/Strategic meeting has been scheduled for the 28 with a memo regarding the details of the meeting to be sent out shortly. The planning meeting was requested to be held on the same day as the board/strategic meeting. Regional Coordinator advised she had no seen the agenda and did not know how long the meeting might go for. Regional Coordinator requested an alternative meeting date if not suitable to hold planning meeting in conjunction with the board/strategic meeting. Alternative date to be the 7 commencing at 10am with Wagga Wagga as the host venue. 10. General Business called for general business. Wagga Wagga asked if the date for the Biannual conference had been set. The advised it would be held on the 25-26 February 2012. Tumut requested information on the Schools programs as there has been no presence in the schools from Netball NSW within the Tumut area. A general discussion around the school programs took place with the Regional Coordinator acknowledging that this was an area of concern and in need of addressing. The following suggestions were made by Associations in relation to school programs: Conduct school shields/tournaments similar to the Mortimer Shield or Paul Kelly Cup Show a clear pathway and participation to netball through school sport AFL Riverina outlined that girls AFL is currently a big push from the AFL Office in Sydney. While AFL Riverina recognise netball as a partner and do not want to diminish numbers to send email and registration form Netball NSW to send memo to advise the planning meeting date to add School Programs to the 27 June 2011 22

they will be a big presence in schools. It was requested that the school programs be added to the agenda of the Board/Strategic meeting. agenda of next meeting. Griffith arrived 11:10am Wagga Wagga is concerned for the current umpire development as they are sending (happily) 21 umpires to State Age Championships this year. Wagga Wagga see this as needing to be addressed and sought feedback from other Associations. Griffith acknowledges that they were in a difficult situation with umpires as many cannot take two days off work to attend State Age. A general discussion around the cost of attending State Age took place. Young suggested for the Sydney Associations to send more than one extra umpire to assist Regional Associations. It was also suggested that Netball NSW open umpiring at State Age up to a general pool. In which individual umpires can nominate to attend the weekend and preferred days. Wagga Wagga suggested elevating costs to Associations by hosting Division four of State Age in Wagga Wagga. The advised that Wagga Wagga can Tender to host a State Age venue. Wagga Wagga requested for this to be added as an agenda item for the Board/Strategic meeting. A general discussion around the Net Set Go! program and participant numbers took place with: Wagga Wagga outlining in their first year they have 50 participants. AFL Riverina have 120 participants across the Wagga District Junior League Griffith this year have 70-80 participants AFL Riverina is looking at adding Netta into their competition in 2012. to take the suggestions to the Umpire Education Officer to add to agenda for Board/Strategic meeting Meeting Closed: 11:35am Next meeting: 28 (unless planning meeting needs to be scheduled on the 7 )
