The Summer 2011 Edition

Special Fall Preview Jolene I clown around on Halloween #4023728 Dear Club Membears, I think it is fair to say that after a long hard winter, we are all happy that spring has sprung and that warmer summer temperatures have arrived. I am excited for the bird song, warm breezes, and many hours spent in my garden. With this new season, also comes the time to introduce the new Holiday Cherished Teddies. Yes, I know, I don t want to rush the seasons, either, but such is the cycle of the Cherished Teddies Collection. As I have mentioned to the many wonderful collectors personally over the years, the holiday assortment is a joy to design and has been on the drawing board for many months. Herbert Surrounded by Blessings #4023731 I hope everyone enjoys the new figurines and finds a special addition to your cherished collection. As always, thank you for collecting Cherished Teddies. It is the passion of the collector and bonds of friendship that make this line special. I hope our new holiday collection brings fun and joy to your home. Many Thanks & Bear Hugs, Glenn Hillman Page 2

Priscilla s Corner Dear Collectors, Given the inspiration of this year s 2011 Cherished Teddies Club kit, and our fun baking theme, I wanted to share with you, the baking inspiration of my beloved antique stove from my very own kitchen, that was modeled in the design of our Club piece, Dorothea and Missy. Along with some of my favorite cookie recipes, (including one from my cookbook), I hope this will give you inspiration to bake up some family memories of your own this summer and to enjoy some time with loved ones in your kitchen. Page 6

Recipe Corner Cape Cod Oatmeal Cookie Recipe I have many happy childhood memories of my carefree barefoot days spent on Cape Cod visiting my grandparents. We often had oatmeal cookies and fried sh (that we caught) for breakfast! 1½ cups flour 1 teaspoon baking soda 1 teaspoon cinnamon ¼ teaspoon nutmeg ½ teaspoon salt 1 cup butter ½ cup sugar ¼ cup brown sugar, firmly packed 1 egg, well beaten 1 teaspoon molasses ¼ cup milk 2 cups oatmeal (old fashioned or quick cooking rolled oats) 1 cup raisins Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Sift flour with baking soda, cinnamon, nutmeg and salt; set aside. Cream butter and sugar till light and fluffy. Add egg and molasses; mix well. Stir in milk, flour mixture, oatmeal and raisins and beat well. Drop by teaspoonful, 2 inches apart, onto greased cookie sheet. Bake 12 minutes. Yield: 4½ - 5 dozen cookies. Page 7
